Right Route
Joshua + Niht + Aurora + Deborah

As Joshua group stepped on each panel, the giant door in front of them shook violently, and slid to the sides. As if it had magical barrier, it did not revealed what kind of path awaits them. Joshua curled his lips, "What a trick place." Said Joshua; then Joshua tried to speak with his group through his mind. 'Hey all, we are now going to speak through mind only.' Said Joshua calmly, hoping that the message went through. 'We don't know what kind of traps that they have prepared for us, so be cautious.' then Deborah's voice could be heard. 'You have said that so many times already. Let's go and move on. Oh! Wow! It actually works!' Joshua scratched his head, not so sure if he needs to react to Deborah's amusement mind or annoyed mind. In any case, he calmly spoke in his mind 'I am saying that cause it is important. Anyways, lets go through the door.' Then Joshua walked ahead, Deborah looked at Aurora, 'Your ability is amazing! I am glad that I am in your team.' She spoke in cheerful manner, hoping that would give somewhat encouragement to Aurora who had to endure mean words.

As the four stepped in the fog of war, it was cleared. However, the door did not exactly led them to the other side. It looked like they were in ruined monastery or some sort. Or was it a temple. "What the..." Even Joshua himself could not hide the surprise. Joshua looked around and touched piece of the stone. Joshua closed his eyes, then opened. 'Alright, it seems this is not an illusion.' Joshua spoke through the mind, 'But we are not the only ones either.' the voice carried weight, and his face no longer had silliness. 'Good thing is, our enemy is not careful as I had anticipated' Said Joshua, using his mind, 'This is probably our best chance to position ourselves well so that we could take them out easily.'

The monastery had stairs that looked like it led to roof, there were broken windows to study outside or leave this place to take cover in somewhere else. However it is clear that they were already in good cover. 'Even if we do have advantage in taking cover, we can't just wait for the enemy to show up.' Deborah raised a point, then Joshua looked at the closed monastery door. 'One of us probably need to be a bait.' He spoke in worried manner, 'It's going to be dangerous as we don't know what kind of enemies are waiting beyond that door.' Said Joshua. 'And while someone goes out to the bait, we probably need to get ourselves in position.

It was clear that monastery had stairs that would lead to the highest floor in monastery, on the other hand, there were many rubble in the area that could hide them and surprise their foes.

'I will go' Said Deborah. 'I will bring enemies to the temple, so you guys get yourself in position.' Then Deborah gently, and set out to find the enemies.  Then Joshua nodded at the two siblings, it was time to take a position or do something so that they could surprise the enemies that would chase Deborah.

Niht Reverie

The doors opened as Aurora finished establishing the mental link, and Joshua quickly prudently restricted all communications to mental ones as they moved inside. They found themselves in a most peculiar place, resembling a monastery. Niht wagered it might have actually been one at some point in time. While Joshua initially seemed to have trouble believing where they were to be real, Niht went about investigating their new surroundings, finding traces of others having come in not too long ago. From the information he'd gathered till now, he could guess they weren't the friendly kind. Joshua noticed this as well, just as Niht was about to alert the rest, his face taking a color of seriousness.

Niht wanted to volunteer to be bait, as he was most likely the fastest and most agile among the group, but Debora beat him to the punch, heading out too quickly for him to be able to interject. With nothing to be done about it, Niht instead focused his energies on finding a place to best ambush someone, looking around before finally looking like an idea struck him. He turned his head up, and then abruptly leapt high, swiftly and quietly reaching the ceiling and sticking to it like some sort of spider, with his armored fingers soundlessly digging into the stone. 'How's this for a surprise?' he asked over their shared link.

Aurora Reverie

Aurora was nervous as they stepped through the door, being more than a little startled at the abrupt change in scenery. She managed to calm herself down, however, thanks to the several times they'd been unceremoniously warped around that day, as well as Debora's praise of her abilities.

'Thanks!' she replied with a smile, as her nerves calmed. She then took a good look at their new surroundings, finding it to be some sort of monastery-like place. While she'd never seen one in person, she'd heard of many her parents had visited during their glory days. Her adventurous blood sparked and she was about to start thoroughly inspecting the place when Joshua warned of enemies being nearby. She quickly turned her now-boiling energies into a more ready state of mind. Less experienced and meticulous than her brother, she quickly ducked behind some nicely shaped rubble and readied her bow once Debora left, making sure she remained well hidden.

Mordred Viscardi

As the team stepped through the mist, they came upon a single road leading to another door. Their leader mentioned the foliage being magic enabled with some form of motion detection feature. Mordred thought to himself that if the enemies are plant-based then the two fire mages could easily handle them. Though it wasn't necessary that all the enemies would be plant-based and provoking the motion detection would just enable the enemy to ambush them, in that regard Isaiah was right to caution them of being stealthy and everyone be on their guard.

"Hey, team, sorry for the mental intrusion, I've set up a shared telepathic link within our mind so that we don't need to talk out loud and give our locations away and also because you won't be able to see me from now on. I'm heading on straight to the door."

Mordred nodded to each of his teammates and gave a wave of his hand.

As the incantation ended, Mordred became invisible to the naked eye and then slowly and carefully proceeded to walk the straight path ahead to reach the door at the end of the road.

Morgan v. Ryzez

Morgana was expecting some of the flaming rocks to crash near her so that she could destroy them with her destructive ability but none crashed at her cover site and the rest was taken care by Jeremiah's air blasts. The rest of her team seemed to charge forward as she got left behind at her spot from where she was trying to discern the enemy's plan of attack, the hair under her tight suit prickled up. Morgana instantly became alert of her surroundings, something felt off. The enemy clearly had the higher ground advantage, they could easily spot them and yet they weren't targetting the safe zones.

The loud crackling sound lightning bolts snapped her out of her thoughts. Morgana spotted lightning projectiles heading towards Ren who was a water battle mage. With instinct kicking in, the assassin curved her wrists inwards and then flung her hand out towards the direction of the projectiles and as she did, lightning daggers shot towards the enemy projectiles with uncanny trained precision. Morgana's lightning projectile daggers would clash with the enemy projectiles and disperse them in an electrical storm before they could reach Ren or at least give her some breathing space to get herself clear from the dispersing electrical wave.

After firing off her counter projectiles, Morgana jumped over a high piece of rubble and positioned herself in a frog pose, ready to leap and pounce on another piece of rubble like a tigress. With her knowledge of arcane sigils, runes and trap makings learned from her time at her terrorist family residence at Iron-Shield, Morgana peered into her surroundings to spot any irregularities as she carefully moved from one spot to another.

Right Route
Joshua + Niht + Aurora + Deborah

Joshua grinned, looking at Niht, 'Nice idea' said Joshua through the link, then he nodded at Aurora's direction, as in affirmation that she was too in good position. 'Well, I want to talk to the foes first though,' Said Joshua in serious manner, he was not joking about this. 'I want to know who they are and what we are dealing with. '

Deborah, who bravery decided to be the living bait, was very cautious with her step. Yes, she wants to be found out, but she also wanted to make sure her team would be in advantage. The reason she decided to do so was not just because she wanted to, but as she had been member of Kamitate, she had much more experience of discovering traps and harmful presence. Then she could hear Joshua talking about learning more about their enemies, Deborah rolled her eyes. She decided not to speak about it and let the two siblings to advocate their thoughts. Deborah was too busy with the traps anyways. Even though traps that had been set for her team was easy to disarm, she was not going to make careless mistake of ignoring small traps due to this tiresome conversation.

Soon Her keen eyes spotted three, no, five presence nearby. She got closer to see who they were, and she saw five males, smirking and chatting at each other. Just like Joshua had told them, the people who they were up against was overconfident of their abilities; "Enhance, speed" Deborah muttered to herself, then she cast her magic at them.

Rise, Storm of Destruction/Be My Weapon/Electrocute My Foes/Chain Storms

Her chain of lightning stroke two of them, and they noticed her. She gave them smile of contempt and it easily provoked them. They charged towards her, but she was faster. Deborah shouted at her team through the mind-link. 'They are coming.'


Joshua looked at his team mates. 'So, are you all okay with that?' He asked the two siblings.

Sillia (Center Route)

"Really?!" Sillia internally shouted in her head when Ruth responded in the most positive and strange manner she could, as Sillia could barely keep herself from making an annoying noise out loud with the tension of the situation being the only thing that kept her voice in check.

Though, Sillia's mind snapped awake when she noticed the plants. It didn't seem like it would be hard to deal with considering they had two people who had fire magic. However, if it was a domain magic then alerting them would probably draw in stronger enemies that they would rather surprise if they could.

"I'll be heading to the right side then, if something happens I'll want the element of surprise so I can get in close." Sillia stated through the telepathic link that Mordred established, as she lightly moved towards the right side and hid in one of the houses.

Sillia slowly pulled out her spear as she held waited for a signal from Mordred on what to do next her arms being to shake in anticipation.

Center Route
Isaiah + Sillia + Mordred + Ruth

Isaiah did not look very surprised by Mordred's invisibility, no, more like he was incapable of making an expression. Anyways, when Mordred decided to move forward, Isaiah spoke through the mind-link established by Mordred. 'Be careful, the traps are hidden well.' Just as Isaiah said that Mordred well trained eyes quickly shifted to one particular flower as he recognize them really well. It was a plant from the very ground, a poisonous flower that one should not step upon. Ruth asked as she spotted Mordred stopped his movement, 'So are you there yet? Could point out where enemies are?' Then Mordred eyes able to spot the several poisonous flowers across the domain. Mordred could spot them on the straight path he wanted to take as well. From Mordred's knowledge, knowledge he acquired from his training as a Star Knight, he knew what happens when these flowers are met with fire spells. It would create poisonous cloud and it would chock to them death.

Sillia, who had been reading books of medical herbs and poisonous plants, she too came to realize from the moment she entered the house. Whoever cast the domain magic, that person wanted them to fight back, and die.

Daichi and Ren

Daichi knelt near the rocks where he took covered quite annoyed that his spell was countered but he can still sense in a general area seems like he can't pinpoint them exactly is it magic or do they have something else like Nara? "They might have something like magic or something else, normally I can tell exactly where an enemy is, but right now its fuzzy, as a hunter this makes me feel like we are being hunted, they might have companions as well that may help them in track us if they can see us in that distance." Daichi tried to tell Morgana and Jeremiah who were both close enough to talk with without trying to shout out just in case the enemy was trying to listen in on them. With Ren farther down and Morgana trying to support the incoming lightning projectiles that are headed towards Ren, Daichi knew that he needed to think of another strategy to close the gap for Ren to more effective up close.

He remember she was a water based mage, and seeing her wield a sword he assumed a close up fighter as well, and a sexy ass women with that armor, Daichi quickly shook his head. 'Can't think about those thoughts now we are in a middle of a fight... maybe later.' Daichi had thought smirking a bit, before Nara bit the back of his head to keep him in line.

...Ren saw an explosion from where Daichi's spell had been, then quickly saw the firey explosion hurdling towards her, as she stood there she wiped off most the debris knowing she could withstand it, with minimal damage she quickly advance, soon after she noticed an electric shot zooming towards her, eyes peeled back she quickly tried moving to the side while shooting her own water projectiles at it to try to slow it down even a few milliseconds.

Daichi realized he needed to create more cover and He wanted to quickly discuss this with his group but with Ren still trying to advance his plan may not work correctly, plus if they had fire base users if might not be efficient either. For now he shot a his vine towards Ren as an escape route to try to quickly evade the lightning projectile. "Strong nature/climb and grab/Vine bridge."

Left Route
Jeremiah + Daichi + Morgana + Ren

Morgana's projectile was on point and it disappeared with it. Ren's water projectile was fired in a second late, and headed straight and there was a sound splash.

The vine that had been created by Daichi enabled Ren to retreat if she wanted, or she could continue to move forward. While Ren was deciding what to do, Jeremiah went past her with incredible speed, his eyes shining in blue light as if demon has possessed him.

Morgana's intuition was right, the place had runes and magic that would be triggered if she make one wrong move. But alas, it came to the point that she can't move forward unless she take the risk of triggering one. The person who had set up the trap knew what he or she was doing. Furthermore, this is much more complex, she couldn't be sure what kind of effect it would trigger once she move.

She could stay and disarm it, but that would take time and she's putting her faith in her team that they could take care of it themselves. But remembering how she had to save one of the member already, does she have the time to do so?

Aurora Reverie

Receiving a look from here brother on the ceiling, Aurora spoke up. 'Um, if you want to capture them, my ability can weaken them or even put them to sleep, we just need to lure them close enough...'

She spoke with slight apprehension, but also complete confidence that whatever ability she was speaking of would get the job done. She waited for Joshua to confirm whether or not to use it, or whether he had a better plan. "O-oh right, it won't harm anyone! It'll also heal any allies inside its radius! though it is quite a big spell..." she added, just in case her initial description was too vague. Next, she gripped her bow tightly and awaited consensus or command, obviously anxious, at least to those that could see her.

Niht Reverie

Secured firmly to the ceiling and in position to drop in on foes at any given time, Niht shot a look at his sister when Joshua mentioned talking to their enemies. Normally he'd be against such an idea, but they needed as much information as possible... and his sister just happened to have a spell that would make such an endeavor significantly less fool-hardy.

He nodded to himself at the girl managing to deal with the rest with just a simple hint from him. Normally it would at least take a bit of coaxing, especially in high-tension environments such as this. He took it as a sign she was slowly growing out of her shell and becoming more adaptable, feeling much more at ease about having let her decide to come, observing Joshua's reaction to the new information. While her description was just a tad clumsy, he felt it was still reliable enough.

Right Route
Joshua + Niht + Aurora + Deborah

Joshua's eyes beamed with interest, 'Oh, that's a good idea!' Said Joshua, he ready his twin swords. 'When Deborah comes and when they finally reveal themselves, put them into sleep. I will give you the signal.' Said Joshua.

Deborah rolled her eyes, she could not believe what she was hearing from the others. They were really going to capture them. In any case, she opened the door, shouting as she quickly position herself well.

"Be ready, here they come!"

Deborah let the electric circuit ready her weapons, and Joshua, too, was ready to greet the enemies. The five enemies entered the zone, one of them smirked, look at the two. "What is this? This is all you got? Talk about an easy prey." Then Joshua shouted in the mind link, "Aurora, now!"

Mordred Viscardi

As soon as he started on the path, Mordred stopped in his tracks. Hidden beneath some vines, the purple petals of a highly poisonous flower caught his eye. The vigilant Star Knight quickly withdrew and scanned the surrounding area with a keener eye. The explosive plants were scattered throughout the grassy domain. Taking any path would be deemed extremely risky and unfortunately, they weren't equipped with the right magic element to counteract this type of plant. If only they had some ice-based powers, they could have frozen the flowers or the entire field for that matter but they couldn't do any harm to the plants now as burning would just trigger the poisonous flowers to burst and release the deadly choking gas.

"From here, on closer inspection, as far as I can see, the entire field is littered with explosive poisonous gas flowers. We can't cross this field normally. Mordred looked around the entire area trying to spot any safer path that they could take to get to the door. "We need to find some other safer path, I could teleport to the end but without knowing if my landing spot is littered with these poisonous flowers that can be identified with their vibrant purple petals, it is not worth the risk."

Aurora Reverie

Aurora began preparing the spell once she had Joshua's agreement, beginning chanting at Deborah's signal. O Guiding Light/Warming the hearts of the good/Bringing peace to the hearts of the vile/Rid my allies of their plight/Rid my enemies of their might/Holy Sanctuary!

The spell was unleashed as the enemies carelessly walked in, their proximity to the origin point of the spell, combined with their extreme laxness and lack of tension making them especially susceptible to its effects, causing them to feel extremely and uncontrollably relaxed to the point of an irrevocable drowsiness. While it may not knock them out instantaneously, for as long as they were still conscious, they might even prove more loose-lipped as the relaxed feeling clouded their judgement. Aurora stood at the center, giving off soft and resplendent golden light, hair and robe flowing.

Right Route
Joshua + Niht + Aurora + Deborah

Aurora's magic covered entire area and with sound of gentle wind, the foes were slowly start to hearing the music of lullaby.

"What...what is-what is happening...?" Said one of the foes and collapsed, and other three collapsed as well. Then one man still stood tall, he grinned. "I see... So you guys are not so easy prey after all..." Then he muttered a word, as him as a center, electrical shock spread and zapped his own comrades; killing them. It also broke Aurora's magic circle.

"Wait, that magic!" Said Deborah, "I recognize it, one of the overlords' lieutenants, Zepha!" The person gave a respectful bow, "Yes, Zepha in the flash." Aurora heard about the group called Overlords, and it doesn't look too good.

Joshua, in all seriousness, stared at Zepha coldly, "What did you do that for? Weren't they your team mates?" Joshua barked in anger. Zepha shrugged with a chilling smile, "If they can't fight, what's the use? Besides, it's not going to be fun if you all die to random soldiers, you all should be honored as I am going to dirty my hands for you all." Said Zepha, then Joshua quickly attack Zepha, the sound of clashing metal echoed in the monastery. Deborah used her floating two dual swords to strike at Zepha as well. It was clear, the enemy that stood in front of them was powerful spell caster that needed everyone's strength to defeat it.

Niht Reverie

As Zepha broke the magic circle, Niht was already dropping on him from above, at the same moment as Joshua from the from and Deborah from the sides. His armored fist aimed for the other man's back, while his ABS was brought to bear, enhancing his already great strength, while also ready to allow him to change course at a moment's notice should the need arise. This was a fight, he found no need to think on the whys and hows of the enemy's lack of camaraderie. He found it much more prudent to focus his energies on taking him down first and foremost.

Aurora Reverie

With her magic circle suddenly broken, Aurora staggered back a few steps as she held her head. She failed to register the whole frying his allies part, and came to as the rest of her group launched simultaneous attacks at the leader-looking guy. Still a bit dazed, she drew her bow and took aim at the man. She decided that since her head was too muddled up to think, she'd leave the thinking for when it wasn't. She waited for an opening to support her allies, ready to fire to help them avoid a hit, or get some hits in to push him back should the opportunity present itself.

Right Route
Joshua + Niht + Aurora + Deborah

It was clear Zepha had its own speed increased, his reaction to attack was uncanny. As he was also battle hardened lieutenant, his strength was great as well. Zepha quickly pushed away Joshua's double attack and Zepha smacked away Deborah's attack. He, however was surprised by the incoming attack from the above. And yet, his speed was faster, only leaving scratch on his armor. "Oh my, you guys are amazing." and then as arrow flew to his shoulder, he caught it and broke into half. "But you should try harder." He gave devilish grin. Joshua's eyes were narrowed and stared at the man. "You think so highly of yourself? Think again." Zepha shrugged, "What? You have set up some kind of trap?" He smirked and continued, "I can easily dodge with my speed." then the earth shook. "Oh, but you can't dodge that." Said Joshua, his eyes shining in green light. Zepha lost his balance to sudden shake of the earth, "What kind of trap is this?" Zepha shouted in annoyance.

"Gaia, mother of nature/Be my voice and show your presence/hold my enemies in place/restrained their movements/Earthly Web"

The vines grew thick and held Zepha tight, and pulled him down, "What-?" Joshua stared down at Zepha coldly. "Everyone, I will held him tight, fire away you spells at will." Deborah hesitated, not really sure what exactly happened, but the Joshua who she always thought of it as optimistic and silly, was gone. She had to, but wondered, was there something about him that he did not share with his team?

In any case, Zepha was struggling, he was trying his best to live. No, he was trying all his might to survive. His eyes were full of fear, and confusion.

Niht Reverie

While his blow was narrowly avoided, Niht used the rebounding force from grazing his opponent's armor to fly backwards, landing between his opponent and their support's location, thereby also cutting off his sight of her.

As Joshua's binding spell came into effect, Niht didn't miss a beat as his ABS magic circles enhanced his speed and power to their maximum. He lunged at the man as the vines had bound him, launching an uppercut, followed by a rain of blows to the man's head in order to disorient him further with the concussive force. Where the man's eys held fear, Niht's held calm determination, as well as something darker hidden beneath.

Aurora Reverie

Aurora found herself stunned, and perhaps even a bit afraid when their enemy managed to causally dodge all of their attacks save that of Niht's. However, thanks to being hidden by him, the enemy would be unable to see this.

She managed to recollect herself as the second clash occured, dashing around behind the rubble as she shot him from different angles, all well calculated to make it the hardest for him to deal with, notice, or avoid. She, after all, no amateur to the bow, nor to harassment tactics.

Sillia (Center Path)

Sillia was surprised when she noticed the poisonous plants through the window of the house, she had experimented with them in the past and almost poisoned herself since those things don't respond well to fire at all. She was about to send a message to Mordred, when she realized he had noticed those plants as well and knew about the danger it posed.

"Right... since we have 2 fire users, engaging in combat here is a major risk. For now, we should try and locate whoever set this up and take him out before a real fight breaks out." Sillia responds through the telepathic link, as she begins glancing around in a paranoid manner to see if she could spot the man around her.

"He might be hidden among some plants though.... He might already know we're here. I'll scout out the buildings on my side... Do you see anything he might be hiding in on the rooftops Ruth?" Sillia stated in a bit of frustration, as she began looking through windows and other houses on the right side to see if she could find anyone.

Center Route
Isaiah + Sillia + Mordred + Ruth

'No' Ruth replied through the mind-link. 'The forest is too thick to have any proper advantage of sight.' She added. 'How does the domain magic works anyway?' Ruth asked as this was her first time encountering this kind of magic. Isaiah, who had been quiet for long time, he replied. 'Domain magic effects huge area, it usually bring out the element of the user and make the terrain advantageous for the caster. Alright then, guess it doesn't matter if we break the spell right? Ruth answered to his simple solution, 'Of course, if we can't do anything about it, it would be better it disappears, but how are we going to do that?'

Then, just as Isaiah stepped on the grass enchanted by the magic, the grass shatters and as he makes his way, it seems that magic is being sucked into the invisible black hole. Soon the grasses, vines and trees that consisted of forest disappeared. Only buildings and normal grasses were left. The forest was gone.

"What? How?" Ruth could not help, but be astonished with the sight. It was clear that domain magic was cleared. It was then she could see the enemies ahead. They looked confused just like how Ruth herself was. The difference between them and her was she quickly found her pace and informed her team.

"I see them now, there are five of them. All of them are ahead of us, now rushing through the door. I think they are trying to make their last stand or some sort. I will try to finish them off from here then!"

Ruth then started to chant her spell, "Undying Phoenix/Show Your Powerful Wrath/Let My Enemies Satisfy Your Wrath/Scorched the Area With Your Flame/Let Your Fire Climb Over My Enemies/Burning Land!"

Spoiler:

The giant fire erupted and tried to swallow whatever that was standing on the magic circle. The foes cast their own defense to survive sudden attack from Ruth, three particular individuals survived. Ruth let out a long breathe. "I need a time to recover, it's now up to you guys now. They probably had to use their best magic to survive that, too." Said Ruth pointing at the three figures at the door, still standing strong.

'Okay let's finish them up before they get any reinforcement.' Said Isaiah moving forward to the giant gate.

Right Route
Joshua + Niht + Aurora + Deborah

The most brutal lieutenant of Overlords was at Niht's mercy. Niht kept on beating his foe, Joshua tapped on Niht, "I think he had enough." Said Joshua, asking Niht to stop. However, Niht did not listen, instead of stopping, Niht turned around and everyone could see eyes of Niht in red. "What the?" Joshua, surprised quickly stepped back.  Niht's first fist attack missed Joshua. "Niht?" Said Joshua, then Zepha gave devilish laughter. "You think you could end me like that? I just needed darken heart of my foe, and turn it against you all!" Deborah eyes were widen, surprised by the revelation of what Zepha might have done to Niht. "You used electricity element to manipulate him? But, how?" Zepha clicked his tongue, "How? I am not going to tell you that. Oh, don't worry, I can't continue to control him forever. But, I'm sure he will be feeling guilty when I am done with him. Seeing what he did to his own team mates, hahahahahaha!" Zepha laughed, Joshua was ready to squash the life out of Zepha, but he smirked. "Do you know what happens if you end me first? He will be forever lost." Joshua tightened his jaws, it looked like they had taken the foe too lightly.

Aurora could feel that the mind-link with her brother was not broken, yet. Perhaps, there was a chance of her to use the mind-link to wake her brother up. But it looked like she needed time though, she needed enough time to reach into her brother's unconsciousness.

The moment Niht felt dark feeling inside him, he came to realize that feeling overwhelmed him. He was now in very dark places. There was nothing, and there was no one. However, the darkness gave him peace, it gave him security that he had never felt before. It seemed that he had forgotten what he was doing before hand... 'Keep him busy!' Aurora called out to Joshua, indicating Zepha, who was looking pretty worn. 'I'll handle my brother.' She'd already felt something strange was happening before he'd approached Niht, and had begun chanting.

"O Angry Light/Shining Bright/Sear My Foes/Blind Their Sight/Grand Flares!"

The many balls of light flared to life behind her, but didn't immediately launch forward to attack and explode, instead hovering behind her. When she saw Niht's red eyes, she'd vaguely recalled a distant memory. She'd seen him with similarly savage eyes before.

Aurora sat down as she focused her mind on reaching into Niht's mind, eyes open and ready to direct her flares to keep her maddened brother from closing in. Such an arrangement may not work on him in his right state of mind, but in his current rampaging state, it should keep him for long enough.
