Supernatural: Legacy - Call of the Wild

Alex stood up at Mati's call, fully in the nude with his morning wood serving like a flag in all of its glory. He seemed somewhat drowsy. "Eh? Ah, sure. Was having a really good dream. Let me just wake up." As he went into the bathroom with closed, his definition of 'waking up' was clear. Five minutes of muffled grunts, and then a five minute shower. ... And then another five minutes of muffled grunts, and then a five minute shower with more not-so-muffled grunts. He came out briefly after that, smelling like cologne. "We're sure it's not a succubus, right?" That joke may as well have said: 'Yeah I spanked it twice, so what?'

When they went to the restaurant, Alex was sure to be the first one to enter. He wanted the choice of where to sit with the lady present, after all~ With eyes like a hawk straining itself to its upmost limits that it let out all of its waste and dirtied the president's limo, Alex spotted out the female known as 'Ava.' Closing in, he quickly analyzed her more important parts. ... Ah well. Better than most. "Six." With a mutter of that number, he sat across from her. Mati could sit next to her.

Mati always woke up early than his partners to get ready; he had too many things to hide. His eyes, his unnaturally well built body, and his birth mark. And time to time display of his power middle of the late night...

Alex, unlike his previous partner, Jordan, was giving Mati easier time to prepare himself; Mati didn't need to wake up in the morning like 4 a.m to get himself prepared, which was good. Even though, he rarely feels fatigue, sometimes dreaming about his parents helped him to feel somewhat 'hopeful'.

Mati eyebrows were furrowed as his new partner asked him about Ava, "I don't think so..." Mati replied. It seemed like Mati didn't get the joke. When Alex looked like ready to roll, Mati picked up the case files and stood up. "Alright then. Let's go."

Mati led the way to the restaurant and Alex went in first. Even though, he did not understand the joke that his partner said earlier, he clearly understood the number that he had muttered. 'Really?' thought Mati as he heard the number. Mati's eyes, which of course had contact lenses, studied new comer. May be eight point five? Then Mati quickly shook his head, 'What am I thinking?'

Mati wanted to sit across the new companion so that it would be easy for him to explain and as Mati didn't feel too comfortable sitting beside the opposite gender, that position was most preferred.

Well, his partner took it away before he could sit there...

Mati scratched his back hair, then sat beside the new comer. "Hello, Ava was it? Name is Matityahu Grey... you can just call me Mati." Mati offered her handshake, "And that is my partner, Alex." Mati gave Alex the moment to introduce himself. "So...uh... I see you are having your breakfast already.... Shall we eat first?" He said in uncertainty, as he wasn't sure what his partner wanted to do first.

"Six."

Ava looked up, scowling at the sound of the number.

"Hey, it's only five," she protested, gesturing to the waffles. "Besides, I more than burn off the calories."

She paused, studying the two further before comprehension dawned in her eyes.

"Ohh, you're the fellas," she said, nodding to them. She took Mati's hand and smiled pleasantly. Mati seemed a bit ill at ease, however, perhaps due to his partner's unflattering leer.

"Well, you're more than welcome to chow down," Ava said, shrugging. "No sense workin' on an empty stomach."

She flagged down the waitress, who returned to take their orders. In the meantime, Ava gestured to see the files so she could pour over them while they were preoccupied.

Alex merely shrugged. "Ah, sure sure." Whether it was meant towards the waffles or the food though, was unclear. Working on an empty stomach, huh? Way back when, when he hadn't been a heavyweight, an empty stomach was usually the case to get in under the weigh-in. Ah well. When the waitress came again, he stated his order. "Three eggs: Two raw, one scrambled. Two extra-crispy hash browns, and a glass of milk. Strawberry, if you have it." Well... it wasn't the oddest order possible, but he knew full well it wasn't exactly on a normal restaurant menu. If they couldn't do it, three scrambled, two hash browns, and a glass of milk would be good enough.[/b]

Mati passed the folders to Ava, "the pictures are not that horrific, so you won't lose your appetite. They were clean kills." And then as his partner finished with waitress, Mati ordered his. "Six waffles and two cup of coffee, one americano and one mocha. One with waffles, one after the meal." Then he shifted his attention to Ava and his partner. Well, one has to make sure the atmosphere wasn't awkward..

"So what do you think? Are we looking at the werewolf or something else?"

The waitress stared at the two men for a long moment before looking down at her pad and jotting down the orders, brows raised. When she walked away, Ava looked up from the files and gave a dark laugh.

"You call gettin' a heart ripped out clean?" she asked, clearly unsure how to take that remark. "But no need to be worried. I've seen my fair share of werewolf corpses."

She handed the files back and sighed as she fished in her pocket.

"Oh yeah, they're werewolf kills," Ava commented, puling out a small almanac. "Just one little problem. Check the dates."

Yes, the method of kills clearly pointed to a werewolf. But none of the kills had occurred during a full moon. Did this mean it wasn't a werewolf? Or was there some factor they weren't yet aware of?

"It's 'clean' in the sense of how it killed it's victim. The victim had no chance to fight back." Mati commented, and he rubbed his chin looking at the dates. "May be we are hunting pure blood werewolf..." Mati suggested as he look at the folder for the second time. "I was planning to visit the victims; the corpse might tell more about the case.."

Alex simply shrugged. "Weird's got ninety-nine problems but a moon ain't one. I'm no scientist, but isn't moonlight just reflected sunlight? Only other effects are magnetic. Which means it's one of those that makes 'em start barking, or it's a mental suggestion. So we either got a pureblood werewolf, one that has a thinker, or something else completely." Well, you certainly call Alex all brawn and no brains.

Ava gave Alex and incredulous look before shaking her head.

"We're talkin' about somethin' that transforms from human to wolf," she said wryly. "No sense in tryin' to rationalize it."

He did bring up a point she hadn't considered, however. Was it possible to induce the transformation some other way?

The waitress returned with the other meals, looking rather disgruntled as she set them down and walked away without further comment. They probably owed her a big tip after this.
"Could be a pure-blood," Ava admitted after she'd left. "We'll just have to do some diggin' to find out."

Mati was certainly right. Those victims had the potential to shed a lot of light on the situation.

"Someone ought to head to the library and check through some of these dates," she suggested, tapping the files. "Might have some interesting connection to other events in town. Then the others will have to do some hoofin' around town, see if the relatives of the victims have any valuable insight."

She looked between Mati and Alex, unsure as to who was the one to call shots here.

Mati looked at the two, then rubbed his neck. Guess he had to make a call, it seemed Alex was not excited to call the shots.

Well, leaving Alex to do the digging in the library... Not a great idea, the question he just asked Ava made it clear to Mati. They need a person who would take the myth seriously to do that... and well, Mati takes myth seriously since he is a 'myth'...

"Alright, I take the library, you two check on the victims and their relatives." Said Mati, calling the shots.

Alex, having broken the two raw eggs into his milk, shrugged. "Fine by me." He said as he proceeded to chow down. Mhm, overcooked hash-browns and raw egg milk... No he didn't like it. But the egg-milk was healthy, and the burnt hashbrowns were as how she always made them...

Ava sighed. She thought it would come to that.

"Well, whenever you're ready then," she said, polishing off a forkful of the last bit of her waffles.

[OOC: Nex, you can go ahead to the library to start your search whenever you like. Gedo, you can just get us moving or something, and I can handle the progress from there.]

"You seem upset."

Startled from his thoughts, he looked around to see her watching him with bright eyes full of curiosity and concern.

"It's nothing," he said, smiling disarmingly. "Finish up your cereal. The bus will be coming soon."

Nodding, she finished up her bowl with a few more spoonfuls and set it down in the sink. He gave her a kiss on the top of her head and watched her go before sighing.

Yes... they were definitely going to have a talk about this.

After his weird meal, he gently got up from his place, "Keep me updated, I will let you all know if I find something interesting from the books."

And he left, paying the bill for his meal and his partners. As Mati sat on his car, he stared at the paper which he had written the date and the time of the death.

Was there a pattern? He asked himself. Then he drove his car to the library. Mati hoped whatever was attacking people, was not attacking people too soon...

"Well, Mrs. Travers," Ava said, gesturing to the woman across from her. "Why don't you tell us what happened?"

She and Alex were seated on the sofa in a modestly furnished living room with a thin, willowy woman of about fifty. She had kind brown eyes and blonde hair that was darkening at the roots.

"I'm not sure I understand what's going on," Mrs. Travers said, shaking her head.

"Well, we're trying to investigate some unusual coincidences between some of the attacks around this area."

"It was an animal attack..." Mrs. Travers said, looking confused as her eyes flickered between Ava and Alex.

"Yes..." Ava said leaning forward. "But that doesn't mean there wasn't any human involvement."

"You think-"

The woman's voice caught in her throat, and she leaned back in the high-backed armchair, her hand to her mouth. When she trusted herself to speak, she swallowed thickly and looked at them.

"Is there anyone who might have wanted to hurt your husband?" Ava asked.

The newspaper reels skimmed before Mati's eyes as he searched for the dates jotted down from the files given to them by the police.

Avery Travers - August 9th

"Mr. Avery Travers, 52, was found dead in the park late last night, apparently on an evening stroll. The mayoral candidate, his wife says, often liked to walk at night to clear his nerves.

Says incumbent Mayor Reynolds, now running uncontested, express his condolences to the Travers family.

'I would not have chosen to win this way,' he said. 'Avery Travers was a great man, and our deepest condolences to his friends, family, and supporters.'"

Sal Benedict - October 11th

Seemingly nothing of interest.

Bertrand Carver - November 17th

Carver seemed to be a member of the mayor's staff.

Emily Parker - March 3rd

The first victim, it seemed. No obvious connections. She left behind one daughter, to be taken into the care of her brother, Simon.

Mati decided to read more about the first victim; how did she die, where did she die, had her heart missing as well?

Mati couldn't shake off this weird feeling he gets from this case, and he hoped some of the details about the first victim might help him out.

The case files were with Mati as well, to see any difference between the first victim's and others.

Alex nodded. "Don't worry ma'am, we were called in to take into account all possibilities. No matter who or what is involved. But first, we have to find out what actually happened." Looking her deep in the eye, he leaned forward and took her hand. "And for that, we need you. Be strong."

Emily Parker's circumstances seemed to be the same as the others. Her heart had been ripped out as well, and she had been listed as an animal attack.

However, the date was different that all the others in one way. This had occurred during a full moon.

Cindy Travers pursed her lips, steeling herself. She glanced down at Alex's hand, then nodded slowly.

"It was an animal attack..." she said in a low voice. "It had to be, I suppose. But Wesley Reynolds sure stood to benefit from it."

She could see they didn't know who that was, so she explained.

"Mayor Reynolds was incumbent at the time. And there were some rumors circulating about him - unfaithfulness, bribes, you know. My husband was running against him, and it seemed sure he would win, but then..."

She trailed off, getting teary. Hastily, she wiped at her eyes and faced them once more.

"Well, Reynolds got what he wanted," she said bitterly.

"Interesting..." Mati commented, and noted down on one of his notebook that he should be visit pay the visit to Emily's family.

Avery Travers' case was the next one he looked it up; he was looking for all the details he could gather as much.

In fact, he really wanted to know the relationship between the mayor Reynords and Avery Travers.

Ava and Alex departed the Travers house and phoned Mati immediately to compare notes.

"Yeah, we just spoke with Travers," Ava informed him. "The stories match up. We wanted to head to check on Mayor Reynolds, but I guess we'll wait on you for that. Meet you by the mayor's office once you wrap up with Parker then."

Ava hung up, then looked over at Alex. Part of her wanted to just ignore him, but it wasn't her style to play the cold shoulder.

"Well, I get the feeling you weren't raised a hunter," she said conversationally. "How'd you get into this?"

He just closed his eyes. "Same way anyone else is pulled into all of this." Those words were enough to explain his situation. "Particularly on the look out for demons. They said a Winchester sealed up hell, but aren't demons made form humans in the first place?" A good point, to be sure. "Really, I'm not doing this for any purpose. Just to let loose steam."

"Alright, I will let you all know what I find here." Said Mati and he hang up the phone.

Mati's eyes gazed upon the house of the Parker's. He breathed in and out, he was not so sure how Parker are going to take it.

He knocked on the door, Mati showed his badge as the door was open. "Hi, I am an FBI agent. I am here to talk about Mrs. Parker's death."

Ava pursed her lips. Certainly, the demons had been considerably less active, but they hadn't been dealt with entirely. As long as humans invited them, they could always find ways out of hell. Unfortunate, really, that Alex should be one of the unlucky few to cross paths with them.

"Well," Ava said, shrugging as she slid her seat back and propped her boots up on the dashboard. "I've heard worse reasons."

She pulled out her daddy's old pistol and began to polish it idly, for lack of anything better to do.

"Ever tangle with a werewolf before?" she asked, casting him a glance before returning to her work.

The door was answered by a man, probably in his late twenties or early thirties. His face was youthful, though his hair seemed prematurely flecked with grey. His eyes were dark, but warm.

At the moment, they were fixed on Mati's badge. For several seconds he said nothing. Then, he slowly opened the door wider and stepped aside.

"Please, come in," he said, offering a perfunctory smile. "I'm Simon. Ms. Parker was my sister."

Simon lead Mati into through the small apartment into the living room, where a young girl was working on her homeroom. She seemed bright and vivacious, with curly brown hair past her shoulders.

"Amber, sweetie, we have a guest right now. Why don't you finish your work in your room?" Simon said, smiling at her. This one was far more natural than the one he'd offered Mati. It was clear he cared very much for the young girl. Amber looked up and nodded, offering a polite smile to the stranger in their house before heading off to her room.

"My sister's daughter," Simon offered, gesturing to one of the chairs. "So, uh, what did you need, sir?"

Alex shook his head. "Nah, rather new to the field. As long as it's something I can touch, I'm not worried." Following the look Ava would likely gave him, he just laughed. "Ah no, I don't have special powers or anything. I'm just... strong, I guess?" Undefeated in boxing, ex-holder of the Heavyweight belt, the class with no restrictions or limitations? He didn't mind stroking his ego, but he wish his story was a little more believable. It'd be like saying Abraham Lincoln was a vampire hunter or something.
