I'm pretty sure his whole objective was to get into the castle and duel Pegasus. It just didn't do him any good lol.

Well, the season 1 disk system was basically the crude, inefficient prototype of the season 2 ones.

I could have sworn it was just part of trying to get revenge on yugi for humiliating him and then he realize Pegasus turned Mokuba into a Kuriboh copy. :O

I know, but I would have expected more intensive testing before releasing the refined final version.

No, he went there for that purpose. Remember, Pegasus' men tried killing him with their invisible guns.

Well, I think that was his test trial.

It just seemed like the time between just two duels with it and the battle city tournament (which I would estimate is 4 months max) was too little to actually perfect the system. : o

The only major change we see is when GX comes in and there isn't the deploy-able holograms this time. First season it was the fields and the duel disk 1.0, and then season two gives us the battle city exclusive Duel disk 2.0 : o

In GX, I guess the holograms originate from the duel disk itself.

They do actually. I remember that distinctly in fact. : o

actually, with the duel disk 1.0 they were using different rules(Kaiba calls them Expert rules, and battle city is supposedly Super Expert rules)

and in the manga, the duel disk dont seem to go through so much improvement in the manga, but thats because in the manga they use Duel Tables,not 50 meter duel fields, so there`s not that much miniaturization involved(so Mokuba is able to steal Yugi`s star chips by reaching over the table,not climbing down the duel field tower running 50 meters to yugi`s side, climbing up, and not being seen by Yugi or his 3 friends)

I'm not talking about rules, but the actual system themselves. The hardware's only major change is in season 2, once GX comes out the hardware changes to project holograms without deployables, in 5D's I suppose you could count the Duel runner as the next upgrade, and then in Zexal they have the goggles.

yeah, but GX was anime first, Yugioh was made after the manga,in the manga everyone had Kaiba`s duel disk, but in the anime Custom duel disks started appearing by the 4th season. and those had the projectors on the device too,i didnt see any bat-like devices flying out of them

but yeah ,the only difference is that the projectors stay on the disk and point outward to project holograms, instead of flying off to the sides and projecting inwards


so, if its Anime only , you have to blame Kaiba`s penchant for the dramatic,if its manga only ,then there`s like 10 or more years of development time
