But that's the thing. We shouldn't only care about the main character because they beat up bad guys. We should care about them as people and want them to be happy.

Look at something like Supernatural. Everyone wants the show to end with Sam and Dean living that apple-pie life they've always wanted because we care about them and want good things for them.
