I was thinking more along the lines of how rping is a very unique form of a storytelling. It mixes static reading with interactive play and choice like a video game or visual novel, as well as the social aspects of the people OOC.

You could also talk about how rping can help improve someone's writing abilities because it allows you to develop characters and plot-lines without having to take full responsibility for all characters and all plots and setting and world building, etc. It's a good stepping stone, I think, before trying to tackle a whole book or series.

Look at that outfit. No serious Caster would wear a get-up like that. Further proof that Bathory is one of the worst Servants they've ever made. I'm not overly fond of Carmilla, but she's much closer tohow iI'dppicture Bathory.

Good morning everyone. So the topic I chose to present to you today is Roleplay. Now in more specific I will not be talking about, Tabletop Roleplay like D&D and Pathfinder although they are interesting or Live-action Roleplay which is a completly differant elephant. What I will be talking about today is Internet Roleplay. Now I'll be frank here, there's so much I would love to talk about this topic since it's one of my main hobbies....well was...kinda. Let's just say I used to Roleplay before a lot more. Anyway I'm digressing here, I could be talking about Roleplay for hours really, but since I only have a couple minutes. I've decided on talking about a specific side of Roleplay.

So, in Roleplay there are 2 types of individuals. There are the Game Masters. There are the people who construct a story, create the characters and then present it to the Roleplayers. Now what are Roleplayers you ask? Well, Roleplayers are the participants of the story, hmmmm, since I know some here will not understand this easily and I have limited time, I'll use an example. Imagine the Game Master is the creator of a puzzle and the Roleplayers are the people putting the pieces together to solve that puzzle. Now change the puzzle for a story and you kinda have Roleplay. Somewhat.

Now there are various types of Roleplay. From realistic, self-insert fanfictions, action, epic, too drama. Every single community will have their preferance in what specific type of Roleplay they prefer. My community in specific seems to be more inclined with Epic Storylines. Imagine the Trojan War or Beowulf, stories which are grand and epic in scale.

Now that that is out of the way, I wanted to talk about a specific thing that I enjoy the most. And that is Character Creation.

Silly Jorg. You have a whole thread full of my rp guides. Go read them and see if that helps you come up with material.

maybe you could start talking about a creation of the main plot of a roleplay story before you delve into character creation.

With a plot at hand, it is easier to create a character, Versus creating a general one and then tweaking it to flow with the initial plot.

That would help because in the Character creation, you've got the backstory and the personality parts where you flesh out your character, based on the roleplay story. What you want to role-play as and how the backstory and personality of the character is relevant to the plot.


I know you like to create characters... but right now, you are talking about roleplaying so you need to look at it as creating something that you want to "roleplay" as and not simply creating something for the heck of it.

Valid point. :0 After all, you have to create the character to suit the world that the story is taking place in.

Unless you're Gedo, who had a stock of characters he just adapted into whatever setting lol.
