I do agree that seasons 9 and 10 have really lacked a substantial villain. Crowley posed a formidable threat in 8, but I like him as a grey player than a black one. You're right that Abaddon had potential, but that was mitigated by the fact that the show she only managed to form half of the non-connected villain duo for season 9. Season 10 hasn't even really had a main antagonist at all, which has been one of its major issues. There's no external impetus. We can hardly call Rowena the villain. She's been a captive for 2/3rds of the season. The Stynes have only showed up in the last several episodes (and are already now dead), so they don't count. Metatron doesn't count since he has barely appeared at all, and he's not exactly a formidable threat, especially now that he doesn't even have grace. He does have the demon tablet, but somehow it seems the writers have already forgotten that...

Season 10 has really suffered from the fact that all the problems are entirely internal (Dean's Mark issue), with no external issues to make a plot. So there's just been a lot of standing about wondering when he'll snap, pointing at signs of him "getting worse" that's really more tell than show. And even if Dean were to become a demon, the worst we can expect from him apparently is to become a douchey bar brawler.

So I was reading a lot about sex today..... Writing sex, that is. And I realized that there are a whole lot of unerotic erotic words, words meant to evoke an erotic response that fail miserably. Anyone else experience this?

Some common ones to me are turgid, throbbing, quivering, "member."

Found some truly awful metaphors too. Like his lance, his battering ram, and her chrysanthemum. Ugh lol.

There are few if any enticing sex words, and only a few of those are appropriate for a book.

Unless you're writing erotic novels, I would just fade to black. Or you know, write an erotic summary.


I have the ability to make something sound pretty enticing though. From... uh... past experiences.

I think I might have one for one of the books in my series, but it will probably be a fade to black situation, yeah, once the very softcore foreplay is over.

Well, cooking is very complicated because there's so many dishes to make that it's almost impossible to know how to do them all unless you have a cookbook and some luck, or natural talent for it. My mom never follows recipes, and she always pulls out amazing stuff. Problem is, she sometimes makes fantastic dishes and has no idea how to repeat them. But then she just pulls something out of nowhere again, so it never seems to matter.

Well you cook pretty much every day so you get a lot of practice.

I myself am a proficient microwave cook.

Now if only I were kidding.

I'm very proficient at heating things up on a stove.

Actually, that's not really true. Very often it starts crackling before I realize it's been on too long.
