Yeah, I don't trust medications/drugs. Nearly every one has some kind of nasty side effect. The human body is too complex to make changes without that affecting something else.

Even something as innocuous as Advil can damage your liver if you have too much. And nearly all medications, as we learned in biochemistry, have adverse side effects because of the interlinked pathways in the body. If you take something to alleviate depression, for instance, it might work by preventing binding of certain hormones to an active site. But by cutting off that active site, then you affect a pathway that works to regulate sleeping patterns.

Well there is a point to the whole, you should only take this much. Too much water can become bad for you if you have too much of it. Everything in the body is connected, but proper doses and expected levels of certain chemicals in the body allows the medication to do what it is intended to do.

Oh, medications usually do what they're intended to do. They just also do a lot of things they're not supposed to do. That's why you never see a medication that doesn't have a list of side-effects.
