Speaking of contrasts, I never really thought of it before, but what was the point of Americanizing the supporting cast like Joey, Tristan, Tea, Mai, etc. if they were going to keep obviously Japanese names for the main cast like Yugi and Kaiba.

They must have thought that kids would accept names like Yugi and Kaiba. I remember Joey's name was Jyonouchi which just wouldn't sound right to a few kids.

Oddly enough, I do prefer the dub version. But I don't see the point in changing it.
