So what do you think Maxim's got up his sleeve next? His words to Kurik sounded a bit ominous.

I've gotta say, it's very hard to speculate. You've done well in dropping very few hints for me guess : o

I keep thinking he will try to assassinate Alina, but will make it look like the Old Guard is responsible, but I'm not yet seeing the advantage of that, because I know that Arusia wouldn't want to be an "active" player until later when they can fully achieve their goals, so revealing their presence would be a bit early.

But if the Old Guard really tries to assassinate Alina, they would be in danger of having the current government against them, which would be counter-intuitive to their goals?

And since there hasn't been a lot of action around them, I'm expecting the anti-strain movement to make a more prominent appearance, but I don't know in which context yet : o

As for what his plan with Kurik is...well I'm guessing he wants him to firstly gain knowledge of the whole facility and secondly maybe shake up some loyalties, making it more difficult for the Old Guard to turn against Arusia if it ever comes to that?

I really don't know for certain though, so much of what is happening feels like a trap, but something will definitely happen

The other thought I just had was that they might try to assassinate Adalia and make it look like the current goverment is responsible. So people would be even more upset with the current goverment. However, I don't know who would take Adalia's place...to fully see the consequences of that, I'm still missing a few pieces XD

Well, like I said, there's been very few hints dropped, so I can only guess. I don't even have any "evidence" to back up any of these ideas. Most of it is just feelings...
