I haven't tried that with my rp characters, but I did for my book characters. It's amazing how well some of the meanings fit when I chose the name without knowing.

That's very true, I've had that happen to me as well. On a whim you look the name up and realise it fits the character really well m.m

I think here, the only ones who have real meanings in their name are James and Lenka. Kurik and Ehlana seem to have no proper word origin

Well, Ehlana is just a spellin variation of Alana, which does have a meaning.

Kurik is a little trickier. It's kind of like Eric?

Well, after expanding my horizon a bit, I think it's more closely a variation of Kerrik, which comes from the word Kendrick...

'Greatest Champion'

I usually look up for characters' names before I create my characters

I suppose in the loosest interpretation it means "Greatest Champion" and seems to be of anglo-saxon or welsh origin

Aha! My lucky guess was right (I won't guess its true origin cause thats too tricky)

It's amazing how he indeed is playing the role of a champion : o

For instance, now he is like a champion that symbolizes the trust between the old guard and Arusia

Well yes, it seems to be quite fitting.

I don't usually search for the meaninig of names, but select them more by sound and the way they flow. And how that flow fits the characteristics I gave that person. In the end, they do tend to fit m.m

Some studies suggested that's how the first names came to be as well (to certain part of the world)

In other words, it's suggesting that meaning came far later (in certain part of the world)

Which actually implies that some people had the name given to them because of how it sounded fitting, and not necessary considering the meaning of it

Of course, the middle-east and Eastern part of the world had different ideas, such as name makes the person

Another fun fact is that there were certain cases where the person had the name such as "Good and wise King" but that person turned out to be the opposite of the name

Yep. Well, they used to when I was growing up. I had no idea they still did.

Well if they're enacting bible stories, they were probably on just before or after The Bibleman Adventures XD

I never got into Veggie Tales. I was really into Adventures in Odyssey. The animated show wasn't great, but I loved the original radio drama. I still listen to those episodes.

I didn't really watch TV when I was young, so I have no idea what you're talking about DX And I'm beginning to suspect that the TV programme in the US and in Europe differed to some extent lol

They differ greatly, actually. XD
I watched very little TV while I was in Europe, but the contents of the shows I did see were super different.

Are you sure, it wasn't just the language?

I'm guessing they are quite different. It makes sense that the programming here might not appeal to people over in Europe.

I can say however, we have our share of ****ty and silly TV shows, most of the from the 80s and 90s XD
