Yes. MoL knows everything about the hunters. They just don't generally disseminate the information unless it's necessary.

I found him a little too odd for my tastes. Zatch Bell was... well, it had some cool ideas. I actually thought the protagonist was pretty good, which is kind of rare for shonen.
