The Grail Games OOC X

I haven't played that many, so I don't know what constitutes fast and slow. I've played Tekken 3, Mortal Kombat Armageddon, Soul Calibur 2 & 3 of the traditional sorts. I had the first three Naruto Ultimate Ninja games from when I was younger. That was definitely a faster sort, as you spent the majority of time hurtling through the air. Persona 4 Arena is a faster pace one as well, I think, as there were times I couldn't get off the floor before my head got caved in.

i play blazblue, melty blood and soul calibur 4, the other two are fast paced games with high combos, soul calibur is a slow paced but fast action type, in that, you can't just combo into infinity, but set up combos one after another fast enough to make it enjoyable.

From what I've heard, P4 Arena plays a lot like Blazblue. And while SC is the ttype of series with ridiculous learning curve, it's still enjoyable.

it's enjoyable because it's the only fighting game were the combos actually look realistic. there's no, i'm going to punch in the air and then without any momentom i'll kick you a hundred times.

It's a really simple knock you to the air, grab you as you fall, throw you against a wall, throw a chain and pull you back in and punch your face in into the ground as you come back.

so, the setup of the IC day didn't really tell me anything about what Logan/Lancer need to be doing... :x
I mean, I know what I'd like to do, but under the current circumstances, it wouldn't make sense IC.
my only real options are to wait for either Caster or Marauder to approach us, or to seek out Dowth.

There are no plans for today. I wanted to give you guys a chance forssome development or interaction. I was planning to have Marauder skirmish with Lancer and Logan, but wasn't sure if you guys wanted a breather from battles.

well, doing character development for Logan/Lancer doesn't really suit me, since I would be doing it all on my own at the moment.
(no way to get in touch with Alina right now)

it would be better if I could get Logan to talk with Dowth actually. he might have the answers that Raphael didn't, and that would go a long way in determining how Logan plays the rest of the Grail War.

Well, you're certainly able to go looking for him. Not that you would know he no longer has Saber.

I also like fast fighting games, but ones like melty blood with easy combos that everyone can do without memorizing them. I may lose a lot at them, but at least I actually feel like I'm doing something.

Hisoutensoku (a Touhou game) is probably my favorite, it's a pity no one ever plays it anymore though.



You move fast, you attack fast, and you can cancel into a lot of combos (which for the most part don't do ****-tons of damage.) You can also fly all over the place. Everyone has the same skill inputs so you can play characters you haven't learned yet easily, and it there's also a customizable 20 deck system that works like regular skill gauges. They have upgrades for your normal skills, special skills (That takes more than one card,) and system skills like buffs that everyone can use. Oh, and guard breaking was actually a thing you saw often instead of once in a millenium.

But alas the learning curve is still there, so good luck finding someone you can play against around the same skill level. There's also weather effects (THAT YOU CAN'T TURN OFF), and the most annoying one makes everything unblockable (you can still run to dodge some projectile attacks). Some special cards do like half your life-bar in that weather.

I think ease of access is key to a fighting game. Also, the uunfortunate truth is that fighting games tend to have bare minimal storyline, which makes it hard to stay invested long.

fighting games are only interesting for the length of the campaign mode.
after that, they're really only amusing when you can play against friends.
otherwise, it just gets repetitive...

The final boss is a catfish.





But yeah. Thank god Soul Calibur 3 has a lot to do even without friend. I still play it now and then to do that damn 100 man survival. Only managed to do it once by being cheap with Katana.

I was thinking of doing an alternative timeline fantasy-ish RP with Maou as the Demon King 500 years in the future (it'd still have the same system as this and there's still some 'lost technology' around.)

Was that something you'd like, or do you only have time for perdition? Illya said she'd try it out, though ofc Perdition takes priority.

I honestly have no clue what I'll have time for when the new year starts. x.x
I'm leaving my job right before Christmas, and after that, who knows...
The plan is to travel for a while, and while I'm moving around, I probably won't have any kind of computer (aside from my smartphone).

still, I'm somewhat tempted to just start writing the novel that this was originally intended to be again...

it would make a good RP, but I could also make a story out of it if I could ever find the motivation to just sit down and create all the characters and write out a storyboard...
