Well, Bellatrix Lestrange and several other Death Eaters just escaped from Azkaban, and I'm trying to decide which version of Saber Alter's avi I like better. :0

Le gasp. :O How did they escape such a horrid place?

I'm guessing it's as Dumbledore said - the Dementors were subservient to Voldemort, rather than the Ministry of Magic. :0

I sure hope not, that would be a sign of dark times ahead.

Very true, but its a scary thought, Voldemort regaining his old power.

Indeed. You know, you have to wonder how anyone could want to side with him. Even if you agreed with his pureblood supremacy, the fact that he would kill or torture you at the drop of a hat should be rather off-putting.

Well I suppose that they wanted to please him. Become his right hand and have a sort of net for when they fall if anytime. Or maybe they wanted to swear loyalty only to become obscure to him.

Hmm.. I dunno. It seems like the people that didn't take a stance one way or the other that best escaped his notice.

Mm only if they aren't useful to him. If you're a pure blood wizard or even a half blood, you might need to be made an example of.

What I mean is that he doesn't actively go after people just for not being Death Eaters. As long as you just tow the line and don't actively oppose him, you pretty much escape his notice.

What about Slughorn? : o He wasn't actively pursued by Voldemort, but his death eaters were trying oh so vigorously to recruit him

According to him, but we don't really see evidence of that (or any reason why that would be).

Well, in a way Slughorn shaped how Voldemort is now. Telling him of the Horcrux and all. Its possible that he didn't want to see an end to his old mentor and wanted to assure his lively hood.

Possible, but sounds a bit too benevolent for Voldemort. Despite Bellatrix and the others who went to Azkaban all queued up to be "honored above all others," he sure didn't treat them so well when they failed him.

I wouldn't say benevolent, since he would have probably kept him close. Possibly even to concoct potions of a high caliber. Snape would have been capable of that as well, however he was supposed to stay at Hogwarts. : o

I will agree that he didn't treat his subjects well, I think he just had terrible mood swings.

Hmm, possibly. I'll bet some Felix Felicis during the Battle of Hogwarts would have been useful.

Terrible mood swings, yes, but even then... I mean he was perfectly happy with Snape, but he killed him anyway just to get the Elder Wand.

Well to be fair, Snape being the owner of the most powerful wand didn't sit well with Voldemort. He certainly was happy with killing him for that power to be rightfully his.

Oh I am sure it would have, Probably would have turned the tide of the battle. : o

Indeed. Although Voldy himself would still have died, since that wouldn't have changed the fact that Harry was his horcrux.
