So ya did that, anything new?

I've just been playing xillia as you can tell. Just learned some mystic artes so the combing got really fun (mystics are basically the flashy ultras of the game)

Well, I beat Persona 4 Arena, which was quite fun and entertaining. I'm now on Stella Deus: Gate of Eternity, a strategy rpg. It's quite fun. I'm still only a little bit in, but I'm liking it.

How does the combat system work, the movement seems rather fluid and non-grid based from the gameplay video I found

I mean, it might be grid based but there are people like jumping over walls and such :p

It is grid-based. All actions - including movement, attacks, skills, and items - require AP (and possibly SP as well in the case of skills). So it can be quite complicated to plan out a move in which you can move and try to use a particular skill or attack.

Now another strategy rpg I really ended up liking was Phantom Brave, and that was non-grid based. Took me a while to get the hang of it, but it was really quite enjoyable.

Oh okay, I'm just used to fire emblem which is like blatantly grid based. Oh okay, that's pretty cool :0

The combat system reminds me of a game that I can't spell that involves a you playing as a demon overlord's son or whatever. I liked that game a lot, though I never finished it because of how ridiculous it could get at times :p

It is grid-based, but I don't think the grids show up unless you're making a move.

Yeah, Disgaea. It's from the same makers, and those characters even show up for bonus battles in the aftergame. I never got into those either, but this has a good (far more mild and believable) story and a fun combat system, so it works out quite nicely.

Ya I would believe its more mild with all the crazy stuff that happens in Disgaea. In all honesty, I like that better in a game. I like the fantasy elements for sure, but it's better when they are more realistic and flow really well with the world its in :0
