Yeah, you make a good point on the first one.

Pretty sure Arcueid mentions coffins a couple times when talking to Shiki.

yeah, my conclusion at that conversation was that it seemed unlikely for coffin to be actual boxes, more likely something like bounded fields.

I always assumed it to be literal. Why not?

the whole conversation started with, can DA`s use modern transport to go across large bodies of water(answer was obviously yes)

then someone mentioned that even original vampires could, they just needed some soil of their homeland in their coffin,but most authors dont bother with that.



but then i imagined the logistics of Roa transporting his coffin around the world all 17 of his incarnations and found it unlikely. and SHIKI didnt seem to be in a position to relocate said coffin from rural France or anywhere else during his incarceration where Roa didnt have that much control.

Exactly. In Dracula, he had to travel with a coffin filled with dirt from his native homeland.

Roa reincarnated across the world... that's only necessary if you're moving your physical body, not your soul. If you mean a coffin for when his host finally turned into a vampire... well, presumably he could make a new coffin with the soil of his new homeland. "Roa" is just a collection of knowledge at this point, so he has no native homeland.

Naw, every pokemon RP never really works, also I become a bit of a crazy person when it's made >.>

and you`d figure Coffins would be just as unique of an item to a vampire as the soil of his homeland.

and if he`s making a new one each time, then i find it much more likely its just gonna turn out to be a bounded field, if Nasu ever spills the beans.

but like i said, its just personal belief/theory.

oh well, i still dont see how wooden boxes mix with vampires in the Nasuverse, bounded fields on the other hand...

Yes. Part of the story was Jonathan Harker and company running around England destroying his coffins that he'd planted in his different estates. He ends up escaping back to Transylvania with one coffin, but that one wasn't anything special. Really, the important part is the dirt, not the box.

Well, Arcueid said that Dead Apostles were a lot like the vampires in myth, so naturally when she mentioned coffins, I saw no reason not to believe it was the real thing.

In many ways, yes. They need to drink blood to survive. They can't survive sunlight. They're weak to holy objects. They can't cross water unless under certain circumstances. They can "turn into mist" - which is really just dissolving a puppet body.

But still, they exhibit many typical vampire traits. It is made into Nasuverse's unique style, but there's still no reason not to believe that coffins aren't literal when Arcueid mentions them.
