| - An unfinished description of a tabletop setting I used recently, may be able to convert Darkening obelisks tower above glistening streets and dark alleys. The year is 2027, and while the city has changed its problems haven’t. Children still go hungry in its streets, businessmen still feel the crunch of taxes and threats of violence and the police- the police are still the peacekeepers of a fragile line of order. This is the city of Arvans, and you, an enforcer of its laws, protector of its citizens, and assistant to the public at large. How well you are held to these roles is up to your discretion, as while ARV PD is more of a giant security force conglomerate, filled to the brim with resources and expertise, it is hardly one with great oversight. Plenty of your coworkers, even, if not especially your bosses, may seem, or have openly been crooked before you. The introduction of Larsen & Sons Bio-integrated enhancements have opened a pandoras box to the population at large. The governor, wielding enough power to be a state on his own, has legalized the use of Bi-enhancers, often called Bi-ens (pronounced “Buy-ins”), and they have begun cycling into use within ARV PD. People with Bi-ens are sometimes the targets of discrimination, people fearing the treatment, part medical, part mechanical, takes away something human from your genes. ARV PD was given a 3-month grace period to get ready for impact before legalization came down, but no amount of time would have been enough for proper preparation. Criminals rich enough, lucky, or skilled enough to get their hands on enough of these rapidly outpaced, often literally, police efforts at keeping order, and their subsequent use by parts of ARV PD has created a rift between the police and the public, who at large are mostly unable to obtain Bi-ens, at least safely. Non-state doctors are not allowed to do Bi-ens procedures, but this is simply one more crime on a growing list you have to look out for. What you have been called here for after your years on the force is in relation to the terrorist bombing of the Larsen & Sons Bio-enhancement manufacturing plant that occurred a week and a half ago. Primary investigations have concluded, but your boss fears it was to little avail, as politics, dirty dealings, bribery and pure incompetency rendered the actual report to reflect little more than a false public assurance of safety. After being sworn to secrecy, you’ve been brought in to investigate the crime, as the perpetrators are still at large, and three crates of highly valuable and volatile material used in the manufacturing process of Bi-ens are still missing, having been stolen. You have spent a number of years on the force before now, place those years in whatever profession or training you were in during these times. Perhaps your career is focused in diversity, or maybe you are a determined specialist. Basic police training gave you a decent physical, mental and social slate to build on, the question is where you went to get your what skills. These include the following:
Mechanical • Driving • Hacking • Volatile substances • Security analysis • Forensics Physical • Athletics • Endurance • Mixed Martial Arts • Larceny • Reflexes • Firearms Mental/Social • Streetwise • Interrogation • Investigation • Socialize • Perception
Zeal- Your Zeal dictates where you lie on a scale from clean to corrupt. Zeal requires you forgo additional experience in grey areas of enforcement and resources, but can be spent in a variety of situations to improve your police performance in an action or reaction that your skills may not be up to par for. Low zeal also makes you highly susceptible to bribery and assorted corruption, but being corrupt also makes it easier for criminals to trust you, after all, birds of a feather.

| *Picks up mic* *DOK DOK!!* "Is this thing on?" Hears his voice. *Takes in a deep breath* "DIBS ON CREATING Adam Jensen !!!" - Spoiler:
okay okay. only kidding. someone else can do that if they want to :>
So if this thing is final character sheet then here's a rough draft / outline of sorts If not. Then I guess when that happens. I'll further work on it. - Spoiler:
Character 1Name: Jake Drovan Nickname: ( Jay-Dee) JDBackstory: - Spoiler:
Emerging from a family line of Law enforcement officers; Jay-Dee had a tough time growing up into the Family Trade, especially for a teenager who was thrown into one grueling task after the other, all to be turned into the likeness of his peers.
His lineage granted him an early access into the Law Enforcement regime. Accepted, at a young age, right out of College education, JD accepted his life as one who serves and protects.
Starting with a desk job, JD used his skills, honed at his University to quickly get the upper hand over his fellow officers. As soon as he got cleared for field work; the first thing he did was to get in close contact with his fellow university team. His friends, whom started as a small group had by now grown into a vast but deep underground organization.
JD may not have been the leader of the group or its founder, but he sure was an important member of the founding team from its early years when he was inducted into it, during his years at his College. This organization named Mole; consisted of a group of likeminded individuals, who had dedicated their life into criminal activities of the digital exploitation and hacking nature. Finding security flaws in digital software, exploiting personal databases, gaining access to confidential files and then at the same time, creating applications that would on the surface help the victims in battling such attacks but in reality these applications would by in itself give a much easier access to the hacking developer for any future illicit activities. By underhandedly scamming the masses, Mole, as a whole, had amassed quite the lump sum of legal and illegal money. This cash flow was either physical or spread out in countless online money holding services like Banks or their likes.
The role of JD’s in Mole was to keep the members of Mole out of the Law enforcement eyes and or any other rival organizations. Hacking into varied systems, JD would be tasked to erase or alter all footprints and records of his friends ever being in one place. Discretion was their motto. Finishing tasks without razing any alarms was their key to success. Just like a Mole who burrows deep into the ground and lives their comfortably, the members of Mole would infiltrate and live amongst the people without being detected.
All this was good and dandy for Jay Dee, up till the point where one member who turned greedy did something that made JD think about the consequences of his actions. The rule was not to get in over one owns head, but that was exactly what happened to JD. Getting overconfident made JD blind to his environment; this enabled his partner in his law enforcement team to get close enough to JD and uncover his Dark Side. JD who had been living a dual life had become oblivious to the warning signals from his partner. And one fine day, during JD’s off time, Richard tailed JD and came across one of Mole’s secret get-togethers. He even managed to unearth sensitive information. But then due to the diverse nature of the members of Mole, it was extremely difficult to hide oneself from them for too long. Richard got spotted by another member and he took the initiative of eliminating him before the off-duty Law enforcement officer could pass on the leaked information to anyone else. JD was informed soon after his Partner’s demise, but by then there was nothing he could do. His friend was dead and he was left with the choice of apprehending his friend’s murderer and potentially leaving a bread crumb that could have led someone to the existence of Mole, or, covering up Mole’s tracks by handling it as any other task that a member of Mole would accomplish.
It was true that Mole usually stayed away from wet-work kind of jobs. This was a first for the Founding members as well. But taking everything in account, it was a unanimous decision to erase any history of the killing act. Thus JD who himself weighed the pros and cons, gave into the Organization’s will and in the end, the death of his friend was made to look like a suicide. With JD’s hand deep into orchestrating the so-called suicide; the incident forever scarred him.
In his mind, a corrupt cop; JD began to re-establish his image in his mind, by decreasing his questionable activities and attempting to dedicate his life as one that his family always wanted for him to have. Though he still felt resentment towards his family which had subconsciously passed onto the entire ideal of Law Enforcement, JD could never truly accept the role he had to play. So to bring some kind of peace or balance to his psyche, JD would remain on or over the fence in regards of his Civil Duty and personal freedom. Not living too deep under the ground, nor being an overly patriotic agent to either party that he was involved with. Keeping face with everyone on the surface while masking his true feelings was a process JD began living with. Being a good cop and an avid robber somehow brought some tranquility to him.
It was during these times that JD was brought into the Law Enforcement’s inner circle. Realizing that these criminal activities were nothing to brush aside, Jake Drovan decided to leave no hands tied, when it comes to taking these criminals down. By hook or by crook, this individual would protect and serve his people.
Total Points = ( 5) - Spoiler:
Mechanical- Spoiler:
• Driving ( 1) - Spoiler:
Sometimes a quick getaway or a deep chase is the key to a successful job or apprehending a notorious group. JD acquired his varied driving skills from both his family and the street gangs that he made illicit deals with from time to time.
• Hacking ( 1) - Spoiler:
Hacking was his bread and butter during his schooling days. Like everything, it started innocently, but evolved into something that he couldn’t live with. Hacking to JD was like using countless digital arms, as natural as they would have been physically fixed to him.
• Volatile substances • Security analysis • Forensics Physical- Spoiler:
• Athletics • Endurance • Mixed Martial Arts • Larceny • Reflexes ( 1) - Spoiler:
Being a desk jockey, battling cyber police and creating codes with blazing fast speed, were what made JD’s hand and eye coordination extremely potent. This skill became apparent to him during Combat Training, when his instructor revealed to him that his perception to enemy movement and mobile targets was beyond your skilled field officers.
• Firearms Mental/Social- Spoiler:
• Streetwise ( 1) - Spoiler:
Since School days, JD had been a rebel and the street was his playground between the free times he had before he reported to home central. Making contact with the Street People, learning their ways and using his own mix of acquired knowledge passed down from an undercover cops perspective and other varied sources; made all the difference when JD entered the big leagues.
• Interrogation • Investigation ( 1*) - Spoiler:
Combining all his skills and life experiences, JD was able to notice details, well hidden from your average individual. But those were limited to circumstantial situations.
• Socialize • Perception (?*) Zeal- Scale ( 1 to 10) where ( 1) being totally Corrupt and ( 10) being Incorruptible Hero Cop Zeal Factor: ( 4) [Details in Backstory] Notes: (1*): Tailored with: - Spoiler:
(A) Driving: His short life as a street Racer driver and being friends with racers gave him insight on Vehicle related investigations
(B) Streetwise: His dealings with the people of the Street and his hard life as a child born in a Cop Family, from a young age, helped JD become someone who could easily mingle with the roughest of the rough. Thus this gave him the edge as to when he had to think like one during investigations.
(C) Hacking: Having a mind of a hacker, means to be able to notice opportunities in the most complex situations. JD’s specially trained and tuned mind would further aid him in pinpointing game-changing details in investigations where chaos runs rampant.
(?*): Investigation and Perception; when looking at JD’s Backstory, tailored with life experiences & the Skills acquired from them over the years; it becomes closely intervened. Thus I was not sure if I should select both or either one of them. Because to me they would be used similarly; unless, JD learned some new methods of perceiving his world, after Richard’s death. In that case, if we can choose (6) skills then I would pick up Perception as my final skill. If not, then Investigation with the detail information on it, should be taken as my chosen skill choice.

| Not a bad conversion into stats there ghosty, thanks for your interest. I've got some thinking to do about zeal because it got absolutely bonkers during the live test (which is fine because thats what it was supposed to do).. but I had to nerf its daily regen so normal guys stopped being more awesome than the robocops at anything but peak moments.
Also I have a basic plot outline but its quite open to change if anyone wants to run something specific. | |
