The Story
I'm caught between having 2 different settings and stories, and would like opinions for each one.

1. Right before, and going into World War 1, with Europe constantly expanding into the interior and along the coast of Africa, a certain group of settlers come across a small island in the eastern region. what the explorers discovered was a unique group of people that had exceptional abilities. When they questioned the natives about how they got there gifts, they said it was all the local plants, which were undocumented and grew no where else in the world. The explorers decided to colonize this small island and build a new nation. The nation was founded on the ideals of unlimited colonization of the set of islands around that contained different plants to allow different powers, the study, use and advancement of these plants to give even greater power to the modern man.

2. During the early 1900's man breached the final continent, the South Pole. Although it was not widely known to the rest of the world, brave entrepreneurs and explorers began to settle and build a city within the walls of ice. The city was more or less unknown to the world, which meant that the people there were free to experiment and create with no true government around. During the 1940's however, it was a secret that fascist leaders came to discover this city which choose to not have contact with the outside world. Instead of conquering the city by force, since the cities defenses were far beyond that of the time, they took over through the cities own government and twisted it to make inventions of war against the ally powers. This created a divide in the city between those who followed this radical fascist ideals, and wanted to continue to create science unabated, and those who believed this was against the reason the city was founded and kept secret.

Ideas
If you haven't figured in, this is very Bioshocky, and as such the powers would work very similar. I want to know which of the two do you think would be a better setting for us to experience.

The similarities between the two would be that you would have to buy everything. Both stories have a strong capitalist backgrounds. As a player you would be some kind of person, from a soldier, to a scientist, to a politician, you have some kind of job and reason you are here in this world.

Each setting would have it's own separate factions you can join, and as such I will allow the RP to go based on the strength of the different factions, and who is doing more. I wont truly begin writing the story until it's decided what setting to go with.

However I am open to any and all ideas, how you think I should change things, or what I should add in to make this a better RP.

The first one sounds really interesting, as it has a realistic feel that I like with the only difference being those interesting plants. What I'm really interested in is the cultural effects this can bring in terms of diseases and such. Because diseases tend to be different across continents (not so sure the distance between Europe and Africa is enough for it to be as dramatic as Europe to North America, but those plants can be used as an excuse) So there are a lot of environmental potentials along with the drastically different culture of the African area.

The second one is something I like too, as it's similar to the first but it has a lot more political potential and can create that new world feel since it's a rather newly settled place. Since you were rather general with the explorers, I assume they'll come from various places, which as you stated will cause a divide and create a varying degree of patriotism expect in a city sense that will allow a lot of underground movements to happen. That, and only about 40 years has gone by, and considering the climate it'll probably be filled with older individuals. That way, you can have a harsher and more destructive form of combat in the city, as a lot of people won't have to worry about harming an innocent family as much.

Those are the thoughts I have so far, but I do like the idea a lot.

yeah, I'm still creating the specifics for each story, but I want to see what people want to go with.

I'm partial to the second idea, it seems like a hotbead for radical philosophies, and I think antartica would make a beautiful setting. Imagine the auroras! I'd definitely sign up for the second one, but my question is, are there going to be any powers? I can just imagine the ways you could use the cold to you advantage, and all of the low tech high tech stuff that Bioshock setting are famous for.

The problem that occurs to me for the first one is that there is a lack of extremist philosophy and national diversity. While there are powers, Europe colonizing stuff is pretty normal at the time you described. If you could mix in some extremist ideas id think it'd really spice things up, in addition, some form of isolation may also give it a bit more flare as in the Bioshock games.

I look forward to playing either way :3

To your question about the radical philosophies, the setting is during WW2.
And I have deep plans
