Jorg's right. Gravity is relative to the size of the planetary body. So if they're not all crushed to death, they must be pretty deformed lol.

if the communities are so isolated to the point that they can't reach another civilization easily then why is developing it a problem? Because basically it will be the same population size of the earth on a larger mass, in fact, that will make it easier to develop because then you won't have mixing cultures :x

they develop differently, and some chose not to develop past a certain point. Our world itself still has tribes and stuff.

The faking immortal tyrant king is a good concept, as it will lay groundwork for the rebellion trying to expose this and will also allow the king to make more shortsighted maneuvers that only a rookie would make. But at the same time, I feel he would also be very cautious of his image making sure that anyone who came too deep into his quarters would be executed since they entered 'sacred ground'.

The vastly diverse villages also add an important element. The mining operation would be good for what I described about the rebellion earlier, the hunting grounds would be a great excuse to cause cultural tension due to the vastly different cultures between it and the capital, and the mercenary city will probably pave the most important of all the cities as it will pretty much be the power balance between the villages and the capital.

That being said, the king would be very paranoid, as he would feel like he was constantly losing his grip on his god-like power due to these vast differences. So, one of the main plot points could focus on him trying to regain power with a weakened army. Maybe even have another continents power shove the desert king to try and regain control when they say they'll back up him, as they believe in divine right?

Just some ideas :0
