|  I am Thoth, keeper of knowledge and wisdom. Allow me to walk you through the process of spell inheritance and spell melding. Spell InheritanceOnce a Thaumaturge has released a demon in the Hall of Learning, they can return between missions to acquire 1 spell from the demon’s inventory and copy it onto their own. The spell’s current tier and abilities remain intact, except where certain tweaks are necessary (such as if you’re missing a horn or wings!). Spell MeldingTwo spells can be combined through spell melding to allow for greater varities of effects while freeing up space in your inventory for new spells. Outside of battle, however, he's not nearly as composed. He can be a bit stiff and uptight, feeling very uncomfortable whenever operating outside rules or boundaries. He did not allow others to enter into his life as friends nor he showed he cares to that extent. However, that doesn’t mean he was a bad team player. He gave his best in every group training he had been assigned to, and some of his team members said that he was much-caring person than they initially thought. But to many, he still seemed cold person and a lone wolf. History: - Spoiler:
It was supposed to be a normal mission; it was supposed to be an easy hunt.
Gad, no, at that time, he was a Vanguard Gideon. Gideon was waiting for his team members to come back as he had reached the camp first. Then he heard the painful and horrified scream. “What was that?” Said Gideon, to his demon pal, Eins. “I think that was Olivia’s scream!” The demon pal replied, looking at the direction where it came from. Gideon became paled, “She’s supposed to be with Jackson and Tyler. Come on, Eins!” Said Gideon, and he quickly ran towards the direction. "Wait!" Said Eins, but Gideon was already running towards it, and he called out his other demon. “Zwei, I need you to go ahead.” Zwei, the bird demon that could scout ahead, was ordered in a hurried manner.
The bird demon went ahead, quickly disappearing to the thick trees. Then just in few seconds, there was an explosion. “What the-?” Gideon was surprised by a sudden blast, his body was frozen as his eyes saw incoming debris and such. “Gideon!” but his demon pal Eins quickly jumped between Gideon and the flying trees and debris. When Gideon opened his eyes, he was still alive. Eins, however, fall to the ground.
“NO!”
Said Gideon horrified, “Eins! Get up!” Gideon shook Eins, trying to wake his demon pal, and hoping he was alright. In a few moments later, Eins smiled weakly, opening his eyes slowly, “Hey, pal… You are okay…” Then there was a stomp, the ground shook as the giant silhouette of a demon came to their sight. Zwei was being swallowed by it. The demon looked at where Gideon and Eins were, “Oh my, I thought I finished you pests… You are still here…” Gideon and Eins looked at the demon, one could tell by just looking at it that this demon was out of their league. Then Eins stood up, shaking, he was still recovering from that blast. “You got to run, Gideon.” Said Eins. “No!” Said Gideon, standing up as well. “Drei!” Gideon called another demon to his side. “We are going to do this together.” Eins sighed, and gave a smile. “You are stubborn as always.” Gideon smirked, “You know my motto, Eins. As long as there’s a strength in me, I won’t give up.” Drei and Eins looked at each other, then Drei nodded. Drei flew towards the giant demon, it was causing enough nuisance to distract the demon. Gideon started enhancing and healing his friend. When all spell was done, something opened behind Gideon, some kind of black hole. No, it was some sort of a portal and it was pulling Gideon towards its dark entrance.
“What is this!?” Gideon let out an annoying shout. It didn’t take long for Gideon to realize it was a portal made by his pal Eins. Eins smiled weakly at his human friend. “Sorry, Pal. But, I can’t let you die here.” Gideon looked at Eins, furious and upset, “What are you doing? As your summoner, I command you to stop this at once.” The giant silhouette came closer, it has dealt with Drei. The demon looked at what was happening and he was enjoying it. “Oh, look here, a demon with a heart.” Eins looked at the demon, “I won’t let you touch him!” The black portal pulled Gideon even stronger, “Eins! No! You cannot fight that thing alone!” Eins looked at Gideon, tears were flowing out, something Gideon never saw before. “Sorry, Gideon. This is where we part.” The giant monster laughed manically, “Let me help you to say your goodbye easier!” Then the monster blasted dark energy to Gideon, the energy pushed Gideon into the portal, "EINS!!!!" Gideon shouted, trying to reach his pal, but he couldn't, and everything became dark.
When Gideon came to his senses, he felt his clothes were way loosened up than before. He looked around, it was a forest he had seen before, but he was not so sure. Just then he could hear the sound… sound of people. Gideon was feeling tired and worn out, however, the face of Eins flashed in his head. He told himself that he had to get up. Gideon's body stood up in desperation. He mustered all of his strength and began chasing after the sound of people. The draggy clothes of his were making it difficult for him to run, and for some reason, everything looked bigger. When he finally passes through the forest, he could see the guards and wagons, the guards were checking on the entering wagons. Whatever that was not important. He had to ask for reinforcement. He dragged himself to the guard, and when he got there, the guards looked surprised by his appearance. “Help…” Said Gideon, he did his best to shout, “My friend needs…my friend needs help…” And then he fainted.
When he woke up, he was surrounded by strangers. “Where…where am I?” Gideon asked and his body ached as he sat up to face them, one of them, a man answered his question. “You are at Chaldea, my boy. Which part are you from?” Gideon was shocked, that was a location pretty far from where his team was. And he could not help, but frowning at the man, “A boy? I am an-“ His eyes caught the glimpse of how he looked as the closed window was right in front of him. It showed a reflection of 15 years old version of him. “how…?” Said Gideon, shocked. Then there was a sound of slow claps, getting the attention of all the strangers. “Come on, come on folks, the boy needs some rest.” Said the man with the white coat. He started sending out the folks outside, and when everyone was out, he came to see Gideon, smiling. “Sorry, to see young visitor coming out from the forest alone is not something you see every day.” Gideon's hands clenched, squeezing blanket as he heard the word ‘alone’. Soon his eyes became watery and tears started to drop. “Eins…Eins...Eins…” Said Gideon repeatedly, covering his eyes, sinking his face on it. The man with the white coat sat down, and gave him a hug, patting his back gently. “There, there… it’s okay now…” and Gideon continued to mourn for his lost partner.
After all that emotional turmoil, he came to know the man was a doctor in the city. The doctor showed Gideon’s belongings, clothes were no longer his size, and his gauntlet was broken into pieces, and his mark was nowhere to be found. The only thing that survived was his double scythe. The doctor was kind enough to be his guardian, and Gideon decided to threw away his old identity and named himself as Gad, a nickname that jokingly called by his former demon partner, Eins. He also realized he could not feel his spells within him; Gad came to the conclusion that the magic threw by that demon must have done something to him.
Gad told the doctor that he wanted to be a Vanguard and wish to enter the program straight away. The doctor was not thrilled to hear that, but he let Gad do what he wanted. At the beginning of Vanguard training, Gad had the choice of choosing the path of summoner again, but he did not. Remembering how he had lost his friend, and how painful it was, he had decided to walk the path of thaumaturges.
Due to the experience, he had for 3 years in the field, his combat skill was top-notch, people who looked down on him due to his young looks, and his young age per se, had to think again. His progress in training surprised everyone, earning him the right to own the mark within a year. Throughout the training, Gad did not allow himself to form any meaningful relationship. Perhaps, his desire, to become strong so that he doesn’t need to be protected, imprisoned himself to the prison of his own.

Monet is a very firm, military focused individual. Whenever pushed into a fun situation, he commonly lashes out and also becomes very uncomfortable around any mention of romance or sexual interest and despises people who he perceives sexual deviants.
He enjoys calmer and more isolated activities such as working on tailoring, and shows a softer but firm side around someone he perceives as ‘weak’, while being outright hostile towards males stronger than himself and is very uncomfortable with any physical contact.
An air of loneliness seems to surround Monet, but it seems contrary to how they act since they come across as rather direct and blunt when talking with other people. Though, they do tend to spend most of their time alone during their free time, and avoid crowds even if they come across as sociable when talked too.

Monet was born into a village far outside the reach of Chaldea into a family of carpenters. Monet’s family helped manage the decoration and construction of the houses in the village. He was named Monet, because his family had been passing down a painting from before everything went to hell that was signed by someone called Monet. The name was the pride of the family and always given to the first born of a generation regardless of gender, and much of their work seemed to be inspired by the French origin of the painting.
If there’s one thing Monet remembered from his mom it’s that this name “Helped us remember that there was a time before these vicious demons walked the earth to remind us of our humanity.”
Though despite this, the village interacted with nearby fairies in a forest and worked with them to help gather supplies and food from the outside that was riddled with hostile demons, and the fairies like to mess with each other a lot as well. Monet was particularly close with a troll, who he named edgar who had a strange interest in the clothes he made even if making something for a creature of his size was rather difficult. Though, it was amusing to see him in matching clothes with him, and he allowed Monet to travel further out as ‘lovable dolt’ would always protect him from the demons.
One day Edgar and Monet went out for a supply run to gather some iron to forge new weapons to deal with some chaos demons that were beginning to expand their territory near the forest. The two were able to find some rich deposits as they began scouting the area.
“I’ll check out the deposits down south, you continuing mining here and bring some back to the village.” Monet said to edgar, as left the troll to his work before making inventory of how much ore was in the southern portion of the quarry to begin taking inventory how much ore was here when he heard a deep voice echoing behind him and a sharp sensation pressing against his back.
“Ah a human! Perfect, boss wanted some of you, you better come with me or else...”
Monet was terrified and threw down his weapons, and rose his hands as the demon pushed him away to where his ‘boss’ was as he was now standing in front of some disgusting and savage beast like demon whose eyes were filled with lust.
“You’re from a nearby village right? Show us where it, and we’ll let you live.” The creature said with a bellowing and excited laugh. His first immediate thought was that his father would stare down this creature, shout “Hell No’, before charging the creature in a last stand heroic effort. However, Monet found himself shaking and could only utter the words “This Way”.
Though, instead of leading them towards his village he lead them in the opposite direction, trying to avoid his family and village from suffering a terrible fate at the hands of these monsters. Instead however, as a stroke of luck or... maybe a curse he ran across a different village that he would went into, gathered information for another town, and then the demons would plunder and have their fill with the residents.
This process went on for a few years, as he became part of the demon group, leading villages into a false sense of security and gathering information for the next village. Sating the lust of the demons so they wouldn’t turn on him or figure out the truth….
Though, no matter what he did, no matter how much he tried to bury his feelings his mother’s words kept popping in his head “Monet, a name to remind us of our human roots.”, as he was plagued with nightmares of him turning into demon as his family and Edgar looked at him with disgust.
...He couldn’t bare this guilt anymore...
“I needed to get out of here…” Monet thought to himself, so one day when the demons went to destroy another village instead of watching he just turned around and left and no one stopped him. He had been around them for so long that none of those beasts even noticed he was leaving, almost like they considered him one of their own.
Eventually, Monet joined Chaldea in a ways to make amends for what he had done. Though, it felt wrong to still call himself a name that was made for a human, so he changed during registration to call himself Samael Velt.

| "So, you've returned from your mission to the village how did it go?" Bicorn silently and venomously hissed. Though, his face soon shifting into a sickly grin, as he saw what Samael looked like as he began to raise his head up higher and proud at the sight of it. "Fine." Samael muttered his face turning into a disgusted scowl at the sight of his old bicorn as Goki and the slime materialized in the cathedral of shadows staring at the Bicorn. "I heard, seems like the 'Lesser' oni let you down? What a shocker." Bicorn hissed out with glee, as he began to walk around the lesser oni. His hooves slamming particularly loudly and close to the oni with a black mist of darkness protruding from his nostrils. A heavy but painful gut feeling began to overcome Samael, it felt wrong to let this play out but for some reason he couldn't move or speak to stop it. His eyes were glued to the encounter, he wanted to see what happened and a part of him enjoyed it. "So... Lesser oni, slime, how about the three of us fight? The loser among the three of us leaves, second goes to the library, and first stays with Samael, fair?" The Bicorn scoffed with a sinister snort as Goki shifted his eyes to the slime who simply let out a strange gurgle in response. "Wait!" Samael called out as the three shifted their eyes to the vanguard, as Goki's eyes let up with a hopeful gleam for a moment only to be crushed when Samael said, "I... need to get the Spell melding done first, Bicorn... I want merge your stampede spell and you three can't fight here, do it somewhere else." "Sit back and watch newbie!" Goki stated while standing on a chair so he was face to face with king frost, swinging his now frosty club in King Frost's face.
"Hee...." King frost muttered sitting down on the ground, as with a giant slam that shook the chair as Goki swung his airs widly in the air from the impact of his armor slamming into the ground.
Bicorn simply scoffed as he trotted over to the other side of the arena now garnished in an overly fancy gold-silver plated armor that reflected the sun in the distance.
"I heard you helped with the king frost fight? I bet you just got in the way and took credit for the other vanguards efforts again." Bicorn scoffed, as Goki's red face shifted from the black color to now a greater oni red color.
"That SO! Well WEAKLING. I've been training with the great Ose, you're nothing more than a baby imp to my current power!" Goki commented gleeful, as one of the imps from Aesop's group turned their head at this remark a light scowl and a shake of their wings before they left the room in a huff.
Bicorn was clearly enraged, as he charged Goki with all his fury his horns charged with maga and aimed at the demon. However, Goki simply jumped over his attack and landed on Bicorn's back as he held his club with both his hands.
"Bully's bluff!" Goki called out, as he slammed his club down on Bicorn's head as the demon's face turned a cold blue from the ice qualities of the club. Bicorn slammed face first into the ground and was knocked unconscious in an instant as Goki stood there one foot on Bicorn's head, one foot on the ground, his arms at his hips, and a cocky smile that made everyone in the room groan in embarrassment.
"Goki Wins!" Samael called out.
