I don't know really : o It's just that I can't see any starting point to get through to him and I keep fearing that he might end up in terrible misery, especially if no one can save his friend

I'm sure his tipping point will be whether or not his friend can be cured...

While I could see that, I think if a character can't learn to deal emotionally with the prospect of loss, then they're not truly maturing. If Mark were to be saved after Luke pushes past these feelings, that would be fine. But if Mark's return is the sole cause of Luke getting over it, then that's not really character growth.

Maybe Jax sharing his story about his sister will help.

You make a good point.

However, I could also understand that Luke will fall further into darkness if Mark isn't saved. And that leaves potential for working through and overcoming the loss at a later point in time (though if he can't connect with anyone, he'll have to figure that one out on his own)

Of course whether he is saved or not, Luke will still have to deal with the emotional package of his past.

At any rate, it poses an interesting problem and I find it intriguing that Nex is not choosing the easy route

As to whether Mark's saved, I can't say. But that is an interesting point.

I had the idea, to have Arya make a cameo if we have time, since she's a weapons expert and could help them makes sense of the jamming device? Or have them send it to her, so she can take it apart...What do you think?
