| I'm good at grammar, and I already checked for that stuff. What I want is feedback on the characters and plot. _________________ ~The Ruin of Camelot~ | |

| Yes. Just over 50k words. Kind of the bare minimum to qualify as a novel, but I'm not sure how else to go about lengthening it. That's one thing I'm hoping my beta readers might be able to help with. _________________ ~The Ruin of Camelot~ | |

| Establish a main character (If there somehow isn't one.) Make sure every other character has some sort of connection to the MC. If their past hasn't been expanded on, do so.

| There is a central protagonist, although other characters take some leading roles by the second book. There's basically six prominent characters in the first book. Some start with a connection to the MC, some form it as things go, but all connect to him by the end.
Some people get backstory, some don't. Those who don't usually get it in later books.
I think the main issue is that the first book is framed more as a suspense/mystery, while later books are more action/drama. As a result, I can't have too many scenes outside the MC's perspective without spoiling things.
You can be a beta reader too, if you want. _________________ ~The Ruin of Camelot~

| Hmm. What would you consider to be acts that make a character irredeemable? _________________ ~The Ruin of Camelot~ | |

| irredeemable?
everyone is redeemable. Because so long as you are alive it means that you can change. So, even if you comited the vilest of crimes that makes you the scum of existance, so long as you are alive, you can be molded and changed to something better
an irredeemable character would be someone who cannot change. Either because they are dead, thus can't change, or they have some form of mental illness that makes them incapable of acting in any other way. |

| example: Kotomine is a badass and awesome character. However no one questions his evilness. Even when he does good actions, no one trusts him and everybody knows that he has alternative motives. He is by that definition an irredeemable character, because although people might like him, everyone aknowledges him as an evil person who deserves only death. This is because he is mentaly incapable of finding any form of pleasure outside of others' sufering, meaning he can't change. |

| I like that explanation. But most people don't see it that way.
I ask because there are some characters in my book who do some pretty questionable things, up to and including murder, but I see them as complex, damaged extremists. I think many people might just see them as straight up villains though.
Speaking of Kotomine, I was planning to introduce a character in the third book inspired by him. Kind of a mishmash of him and the priest from the Sortilege rp. _________________ ~The Ruin of Camelot~

| i don't know what your characters do or what your character's circunstances are, so i can't tell you if they look one dimentional or complex.
if it makes you happy, I'm strungling between making a character look redeemable and irredeemable, all at the same time. However paradoxal that may be. |

| Well, I'll let you judge as you read. I get it. That's the sort of thing I'm going for. Almost no one one is a straight villain, but almost no one is faultless. I try to push them to the edge and over, but I can't help but sympathize with them. Maybe cause all their philosophies derive from me in some way. _________________ ~The Ruin of Camelot~ | |

| i have the opposite. I have a character that starts a typicaly neutral person, but gets corrupted and slow and steady because this almost force of nature chaos like character.
the strugling being that I want to make her look evil, but my love for the character prevents me from turning her into a pure force of evil. |

| A person is irredeemable if they do something considered personal against the observer. Otherwise, what Jorg said. - jorgiguel wrote:

| Well yes. I think all morally grey characters have to start that way. The difference is whether they are completely neutral at the story's beginning, or have already progressed along as a result of things that have happened before starting. Yes, that's true. Good addendum. Indeed. _________________ ~The Ruin of Camelot~ | |
