Running. Running. Running.

The burn of hunger in the throat. The taste and heat of fresh blood on the lips.

Another kill. He couldn't help it. Never could, no matter how much he despised himself for it.

But things had gone too far. Killing outside at night was bad enough. But the other night he'd gotten close to an uninvolved family. Might have done them harm.

And now.. he'd killed a man in his apartment building. They'd figure it out soon enough - hunters - and he'd be the one left holding the bag.

Mati scratched his head, "You wanted me to check this out?" he commented as he looked at the newspaper. He sighed, "Man, I am not even sure if I want to have a partner." He put down the newspaper to the next seat.

He drove his car out of the free parking lot; shaking his head, he commented. "Human eating monster... what? You want MoL to find out that I am half angel and half demon?" He complained as he drove his car to the place where murder had happened.

As Mati drove in, he could see his partner was already there, talking with the local authorities. "..." ... The cop was also speechless. It seems they were at some sort of Impasse. Naturally. The cop was just doing his business, keeping people away. But the person in front of him...

Dressed in a tailor-made FBI suit and with green hair that was drawn back into a small ponytail, it was a somewhat odd sight. And to accompany that, the man himself was large. Not just in height, but... well, in just about everything. He looked like he had just been plucked out of some professional sport, or come straight from the Olympics. "Like I said. Official business. Do I look like some type of passer-by?" Looking at the incoming vehicle,tThe cop finally conceded and stepped aside. "... Very well, sir."

Mati eyebrows were curved, and he commented before he step out from his car. "Huh? They sent me a partner already?" Then he came out from his car; wearing his suit, "Hey, partner, the boss want us to get this case over it." He said it as he came closer to his new partner. "Matthew, FBI, we came here to see the crime scene." He added as he move along with his new partner to the place where crime had happened.

As they arrive to the crime scene, Mati silently studied the crime scene. He was searching for any mark of the "beast", or any clues that might give them an idea what they were going to hunt.

The big man had other ideas as he looked around. And sniffed. "...No sulfur. Ah, hey, my name's Alex by the way." And with that, he looked around, a bit disinterested.

"You two coming?"

Officer Mulligan, a fairly toned middle-aged man with an impressive mustache, had paused to wait for them, looking a bit impatient at the delay. Ushering them on with a large hand, he led them inside the apartment building and up the stairs to the second floor. At the end of the hallway, nearest these stairs, was a room cordoned off with police tape. He ducked under it, then stood aside and placed his fingers in the loops of his belt.

On the floor was a body, drenched in blood. The chest had been ripped open, though it was hard to make out details through the gore.

"Near as we can tell, the heart got torn out," Mulligan said, grimacing. "There have been reports of bear attacks in the area, but to have come all the way inside an apartment building... Well, I'm not bear expert."

He shrugged, glancing at the body again before waiting for the inevitable wave of questions.

"My name is Matityahu, you can just call me Mati. Well, at the moment stick with Matthew." Mati introduced himself to his new partner, whispering, making sure that they were not being watched by other officers.

As they were led to the crime scene, Mati was silent. He was trying his best to see any thing that could be used as clue... "Well, any eyewitnesses?" Mati asked as he studied the dead body. He asked the officer who looked ready to answer some questions.

Officer Mulligan glanced at the body once more before shaking his head.

"Nope. The deceased - Mark Russell - lived alone here. The time of death was about 11:30 PM, so people weren't exactly milling about the halls."

One other men signaled to Mulligan, and he nodded.

"Coroner is coming to take the body now," he said, looking relieved. "If you want to see it before it's moved, I suggest you do it now."

Mati nodded, "Yeah sure." and he took closer look at the wound of the dead body. Hopefully there's something that could lead them to the creature who attacked him. For instance, his fingernails, his hands or clothes... the monster could have left something...

Yes, it looked like a bear attack, but he knew better than that. It was not done by ordinary bear, it was the work of supernatural being that loves to eat heart...

He could only think of two possible supernatural beings; werewolves, or Wendigo...

Then again, there could be others he did not know about. Mati shifted his gaze to his partner. "What do you think?" He asked Alex, and whispered, "Werewolf or Wendigo?"

Alex shrugged. "Does it matter? ... Well, a Wendigo saves its victims anyways. Probably a pup that did this, since there aren't any other ones." Turning to the officer, he shook his head. "Officer Mulligan, right? Well there's not a lot of things that can do this. Any animal torn up this way? Or hikers or the like that have recently gone missing?"

Mulligan gave a nod to Alex and looked up, brow furrowed as he tried to remember.

"Oh yeah, had a few. All outdoor incidents, though, so they were a bit neater to wrap up."

He waved over one of his men and muttered some instructions.

"Don't know how much help they'll be, but I can get you the case files for each of the incidents," he said as the other man walked away. "I seem to recall they got their innards scrambled too...."

Mulligan turned his attention back to the body as the coroner, who had arrived a few moments before, covered up the body and began to remove it from the room.

"Yeah, that would be really helpful." Said Mati to the officer, "If it is possible, I would like to take a look at those files really soon. You never know, it might give us interesting point of view..." He added.

Mati turned to his partner, Alex, "So you want to go there and collect the files, or should I?"

Alex just waved his hand out. "You go and get them. I'm going to go for a little hike." He wasn't one to prepare. He knew it wasn't a ghost, it wasn't a demon. It meant whatever it was, he could beat it down. Silver? Bullets? Whatever the legends, there was always a specific way to kill it. ... So, why could he just smashed them until they stopped moving? Or at least until every bone and organ in their body stopped working.

Fists clenched, he walked for the door. It was clear he had a lot of frustration to vent, and whatever had done this was going to be his target.

Officer Mulligan had to remain at the crime scene, so he sent one of his junior officer, a spry young man in his early twenties, to accompany Mati back to the station.

"I'm impressed," the policeman said as they returned to the station. "We have to be pretty close in age, and you're already a federal agent. Was it tough?"

He let the question linger as he made a quick search on the computer, then went to retrieve the files.

"Here you go," he said, smiling pleasantly as he handed the case files to Mati. "You know, we had a wildlife biologist in to look at some of the bodies. Ultimately, they agreed on the rogue bear theory, but..."

Perhaps it was because of the involvement of federal agents that the young policeman seemed more assured of his suspicions. He leaned in conspiratorially, looking around the empty station before he spoke.

"The biologist wasn't entirely pleased with the outcome. Said bear attacks aren't usually so... clean."

Alex had gone into the nearby wilderness, simply looking. The damn thing wasn't smart enough to clean its kills, so even if Alex wasn't a tracker he'd be able to tell where it hanged out by any dead animals. You don't **** where you eat. He'd think freaks of nature would at least understand that much.

Mati gave the young man a shrugged, "well, I was lucky. Even though my degree was online degree they decided to take me in." He replied, giving the man impression that he was really just "lucky", nothing more.

As the young man took the file to Mati, Mati looked at them carefully. Mati nodded his head as the young officer gave him inside information. "Yeah, it could be a serial killer trying his best to fool us." He said dryly. He was not making a sarcastic remark. He was giving the assurance to the young officer that it could be another human being.

"In any case, I will take a closer look at the files." Said Mati, leaving the young officer to ponder about the 'insight' that Mati gave him.

As Mati returned to the car, he looked at the who were the victims; were all of them 'humans'? Were some of them wild animals? Pets? He was trying to make sense of the information that was given to him.

"The more I look into it... this is not a random attack... This thing was trying to satisfy its hunger with something else, but it failed horribly...."

From what he could see of the reports, the attacks were indeed unusual. With the exception of the latest victim, all of the other deceased had been outside when they were killed, despite the unusual times of night listed. Given the fact that some, if not most, seemed to have little obvious reason for being outdoors at those times, something seemed to be missing.

The policeman's inside scoop had been accurate as well. A bear would surely not have dug out the heart and left the rest of the body intact. One creature seemed the most obvious choice, but was it that easy? Perhaps some expert insight might clear up the matter.

--------------------

Unfortunately, Alex's search did not reveal anything worthwhile. There were no obvious signs of wildlife deaths to indicate anything out of the ordinary. Thus far, all the victims in the area seemed to be distinctly human - not something a bear would be likely to do.

PostSubject: Re: Supernatural: Legacy - Call of the Wild   Supernatural: Legacy - Call of the Wild Clock11Mon Mar 23, 2015 2:34 pm

Mati tapped his fingers on the files; he was missing something. The thing did not attack wild animals, nor any other animals... It only attacked humans... And to make it worse, his instinct screaming at him that the attacks were not random. This thing had a goal.... Should he check the dead body?

Mati sighed and sent a text to his new partner, asking him to join him in the motel that would be prepared by MoL. Mati drove the car to the motel, as he came inside the motel room he settled himself on one of the bed. He opened the files again and closed it. He put down the files on the table.

Before he ask MoL for some backup, he should ask his partner about what he had found and what's his thought about the job. If they cannot come up with decent theory behind this thing's behavior, they should get all the help they could get.

Mati sighed and commented, "Bravo, you just delivered a job that would be a pain in the ass..." Mati's lips were curled and he shifted his gaze to the tree. Then he settled down to his bed once more, waiting for his new partner to comeback.

Alex, disappointed at not finding anything, made his way back to the hotel room. It seemed his partner called in for back-up... well whatever. If they couldn't find the thing, they couldn't kill it.

It seemed like his new partner did not find any thing, Mati gave his partner the files that he had collected from police. "I do not think it's a random attack, but I feel like something's missing... So I am planning to call MoL to send us an expert." He told his partner in calm and collected tone.

Mati pressed '1' in his phone and that dialed striaght to MoL, "Yeah, HQ? I think we need another hunter. We need a hunter who is an expert in taking down werewolves." Cool and gently he spoke on his phone, waiting for the confirmation from the HQ if they have one.

"You're in luck. We've got one such hunter in your area," the operator said, and from the cheerful, upbeat voice, Mati could tell that it was Philip "Pip" Blanchard. One of the newer operatives at the Men of Letters, he was in his mid-twenties, though with his youthful face he'd been mistaken for younger. He'd become well-known and well-liked for his knowledge, pleasantness, and eagerness to help.

"Name's Ava Givens," Pip reported. "She just finished up a job in the state. I'll reroute her to you. Probably be there by morning."

[OOC: I decided to make a profile for him. ^^ I'll have to find a good pic. Anyway, you guys can move to morning anytime you want.]

Alex perked up somewhat. "She, huh? Good. Need a pair off fun-bags around here anyways. All the more better if she can find this bloody thing. " A blatantly blatant sexual remark. Yeah, clearly a horn-dog. He went to bed.

"Wait, what? 'She'? Pip, you are fully aware that..." The conversation was quickly cut off with the sound of 'beep', he was being rerouted. "You got to be kidding..." Mati commented in the manner of confused tone. Then Alex gave his own remark about the co-worker he had not met yet.

Mati scratched his hair, was it wrong to call for help? He could probably use his powers to search for that thing... The thing is supernatural being after all... Then again... He didn't like the idea of revealing his identity.

As Ava picked up her phone, Mati said "hello" in pleasant manner, "We need your help, tomorrow morning 8 AM. I will send you the address." Then he hang up the phone and sent her a text.

With that, half worried and half hopeful, Mati went to sleep.

Next Morning.....

Mati woke up early, making sure he got the files ready for his new co-worker to have clear understanding of what's been happening. "Hey, Alex, you coming?" Mati asked his new partner.

The address given to Ava was a restaurant, even though, Mati doesn't need to eat often as average human, Mati was concerned about his two partners so he decided to make that as their meeting place. He hoped Ava and Alex like the food they served...

Wayside Wafflehouse was a small setup, barely fitting five booths along its windowed front. One young lady was seated by herself in one, happily munching on a large platter of Belgian waffles stacked five high.

"'Scuse me," Ava said, flagging down the waitress. "More syrup, please?"

As the woman walked away to get her order, Ava continued to play with her phone, looking at the latest text from Pip, a simple "Good luck. :-)", and smiling happily to herself as she waited for her partners to arrive with those case files. If it really was a werewolf, as they suspected, she'd be happy to get into the act.
