The Stalker and the Actor. Honestly though Arais could probably do Pointman too if need be.

only an Extractor, and Architect, and a Point-man are actually required for a job.
anyone else is only called in if needed.

@Spirit: Well it would be too many tasks for one person to do it; if you miss any single detail of that person you need to act, your forger won't be able to form proper sync with the character that he/she has to act and subject would realize it is a dream and the dream world will start crumbling

 like what are they Supposed to relate to in
1) Real world
2) your Dream
3) Marks Dream

Totems are an object that behaves or appears one way while in a dream space and another way in reality.

Yes but how to confirm if you are dreaming your own dream or have fallen in Someone elses?

 The only thing I get is that in reality and your dream the totem needs to be the same but diff in others

so for the spinning top, the top in the real world and your dream needs to be continuously spinning but if it topples then it is someone else dream right?

No, if it topples, its not a dream.
For instance, in the movie, First Dream was The chemists, Second Dream was Point man, third one was the subject's and the fourth one was Extractor

And we could see that the person who was the owner of the dream did not sleep while others move into someone's else dream.

the idea isn't to figure out whose dream you're in.
it's just to know if you're in the dream or awake.
so, the way the totem behaves doesn't need to change between dreamers, only between the dream state and reality.

In other words, before the crew enters the dream sharing, the actual work, they plan it out whose dream they will move into first, second and third or etc.

The roles are not that interchangeable. A Pointman just doesn't do research. He's a research expert with skills and vast information networks. Ifssomeone has that and phenomenal acting ability, you're bordering on Mary Sue territory.

So Illya when will you be uploading the profiles of the client and the subject/mark/whatever you want to call?

I would suspect that a person could play all roles in some way or another, but in doing so, that person would inhibit the growth of their skills.

For example, John is both a Point-man and a Forger, but that's a benefit of his psychological profiling and his time with the FBI. Obviously, his skills as a Point-man are going to be better developed than his skills as a Forger though.

In the movie, Cobb is the Extractor, but apparently, at one point, he was an Architect, and a very good one at that.

So, I would guess that it's possible for a person to have multiple skillsets, but the more they delve into each, the less impressive they are in the others.

A network? Yea, no.

Well, yes, technically you can serve multiple roles. But that's an exception, rather than the rule.

And yes, the explanation on totems was accurate.

Cobb was.....well, his 'Mr.Charles' was amazing but he didn't look too impressive when he was dealing with Japanese guy lol

I mean it supports what Payne said to certain degree

Cobb was an Architect by nature. He learned Extraction when he could no longer build
