The battles aren't difficult?

Not particularly. You can easily heal, and guarding allows you build up charges for really damaging skills. If you grind a bit, you can even 1 hit normal random encounter monsters.

You might like a zombie game I found in the same style as Witch's House. Starts with zombies ends up in hell fighting Satan Hitler or something like that. It was pretty fun.
