Ascension
The Immortal Emperor

The Story

Welcome to the lands of Athevna, covered by sand and the sun, these lands arbor a civilization that prospers in great power and culture. Long ago these deserts were occupied by nomads and tribes who would quarrel against one another for territory and resources. Until one day one man appeared and took control, thanks to his great charisma and power he was able to unite all in these under his control and thus Athevna was born and the man would be called the Immortal Emperor. This was 200 years ago, through his leadership dominion over the land this civilization prosper considerably.

However no one has seen the Immortal Emperor for almost a century now and some of the populace have began to doubt if he still lives. Still must believe that the emperor is simply resting in his grand palace. Due to his absence a resistance has been built, known as the Rebels, they cause all form of problems that directly target the advisors of the Immortal Emperor and their goal is strip the emperor of his power.

You are mercenaries who are hired for all kinds of work, some you will enjoy others you will regret, but ultimately fate will determine where you go in this time of doubt.

Factions

Immortal Emperor

Everything and anything in Athevna is under the Immortal Emperor's control, thus everything and anything belong to this faction in theory. Officially everything belong to this faction, so long as you walk on these lands you are welcome, however in practice only the Emperor City is trully 100% under his control. Those of these factions can be typicaly be sumarized as, the military, the nobles and the people.

Rebels

The organization that question the Emperor's power and see their right to strip him of it. Their location is unknown and their members are undistinguiable, however it is commonly accepted that they are in every city and town.

Aimatos Lords

Due they belong to the Immortal Emperor they operate independatly of him. The lords a mining camp, they are the lords of the underworld and the market. They control must of all trade routes and are notorious for their slave market. Some of these slaves aren't even from Athevna

Mercenaries

A small city called Miros hosts most mercenaries of these lands, due looked down for it's high number of mercenaries, it is the second safest city precesely due to these mercenaries. It is normally called by civilians as the City of Dreams due to many moving there to become mercenaries.

Dolofonos

An old tribe that remained independent from the Kingdom of Athevna. The inhabitants are considered to be the best of hunters and mainly survive through hunting as even it’s water source comes from the blood of their preys. They are easily recognized by the permanent black paint that they spread over their body as a ritual for adulthood. A slave of a Dolof is the most valuable type of slave. Their culture also differs greatly from the rest and aside for mating reasons, there is no distinction made between man and woman.

Stats: (you have 8 points, each category must have min 1 point and max 3 points, may add more points if i enjoy your history)
Mental: (Your mental prowess essentially, useful for magic users and provides resistance against magic)
Physical: (Your physical prowess essentially, useful for combat overall, important for moving things around, carrying stuff, escaping traps, etc...)
Speech: (Your charisma and diplomatic skill essentially, useful for manipulating and convincing npcs)
Perception: (Your abilities to notice details, useful for well, noticing details in various situations)

Other: (whatever else you feel like adding)

Concepts

Magic

Magic, sorcery, witchcraft or whatever or name you wish to call it is the art of imposing one's will into the world utilizing magical energy as a fuel. There are various forms of magic in all over the world however Athevna is known for it's complex variety in magic.

Elemental Magic

As one can guess it this category includes all forms of magic that involve around messing around with the elements. What are the elements you ask? Water, Fire, Wind, Earth and Lightning. These type of magic is the basic of all Athevna magic, without them majority of Athevna would not be what it is. That said these type of magic although straight forward can be quite dangerous at time as they are more powerful when close to their elemental, example: a water magician will be more powerful near a river than in the middle of the desert.

Athevna Magic

These are all other form of magic that result as variations from the elemental magic. They are rather diverse, existing almost hundred different forms, however most commons tend to be Healing, Hypnosis, Light, Dark among others. Due to the way magic works, to impose one's will into the world, there is almost a limitless different forms of Athevna magic.

Dolofonos Magic

A completely different take on magic of Athevna, while normal magic is the art to impose one's will into the world. Dolofonos Magic instead works by burning and building from the ashes, destroy to create. Magic that requires no magical energy instead only requires destruction as fuel. Magic designed for hunters, it is magic designed for one thing and one thing only battle. Due it is unknown if there are other form of it, it normally seen as some form of magic that manipulates blood.

Stats System

Mental

Your mental prowess, your capacity to control magic and resist it's effects, a very important stat if you wish to have powerful magic, but ignorable if you simply wish to be a combat oriented type.
A single point in mental will allow you to pick a single elemental magic, with it you will be to control existing forms of that elemental at small scales. It will give you weak resistance to magic effects.
Two points will allow you to control said element at a larger scale, while also able to create small quantities of that element. You may also instead make your own custom magic, this I will leave for your creativity. It will give you average resistance to magic effects.
Three points will allow you free control of said element and also able to create that element in large quantities, you may also have an additional magic to support, be it custom or elemental. It will give you excellent resistance to magic effects.

Physical

Your physical prowess, your capacity to control your body in both strength, speed and endurance, a very important stat if you wish to be a powerful fighter, but ignorable if you don't want to be fighting head on.
A single point will make you an average civilian's worth, you're neither good or bad.
Two points will make you peak human, you can run faster than anyone, carry things nobody else can and endure pain no one would.
Three points will make superhuman, at this point your faster than the eye can see, strong enough to lift boulders and tough enough to take on a monster alone.

Speech

Your charisma and leadership capabilities. How good are you at talking people into and out of stuff, how good are you at manipulating, and how good are you at resisting other's leadership.
A single point make you an average human, you wont question one with a bigger stat then you, you are easy to control and listen to orders.
Two points make a competent leader, you can convince most to do your actions, at the same time few can actually order you around without you allowing them.
Three points make you a natural born leader, you exist to command and rule others, no one can disobey an order from you so long as it is does not conflict with them, you might even be capable of convincing people of killing themselves(joking).

Perception

How good are you at noticing details. The stat that allows you to perceive things other normally cannot.
A single point will make you an average human, you barely notice the obvious much less small details.
Two points will make you capable to noticing most details that happen in your surroundings and to same degree human's actions.
Three points make an expert in details, you will find all details, be it from animals or humans or even up coming weather.


Abilities

supernatural aspects that rare individuals or communities possess, said abilities are passive extras or improvements that your body is capable of doing naturally, though there are rare exceptions where abilities can be activated instead of always being active. Note that abilities are not common, they are rare and there should be some explanation as to where said abilities were gained.

it was intended. you could say that npcs with more than 8 stats have an important role in rp

but dont feel cheated, if you make a really good story i may give additional points to add

History: Not much is known about Echidna, except that spread by rumor. Some say she is the young widow of a man killed by the expansion of the Immortal King's forces. Others say she was once a captain in the King's forces herself. Rumors spread that she is obsessed with collecting rare and valuable weapons. All that people know for certain is that once she appeared in the guild as a mercenary, none were able to equal her. After establishing a notorious reputation, Echidna had the luxury of picking and choosing jobs that suited her tastes, all of which seem to originate in areas with rumors of valuable weapons. She has earned the alias "Edgemaster."
Personality: Sarcastic and cutting, Echidna needs no friends and tends to show that. She can also be described as playful, in the way that a cat is playful with mice. She also seems to have a fascination for weapons - both for their lore and their uses.
Occupation: Mercenary

Skills
Magic: Wind - Echidna uses wind to augment her swords, extending the reach of their slash, and to maneuver herself in battle to increase her speed and agility
Abilities: Eye of the Mind - an innate sense for perceiving the best options in battle, refined through many battles to an exceptional sixth sense
Equipment:
Venom and Viper - two kodachi with the center of the blades hollowed out to improve the aerodynamics, making them somewhat brittle to blunt strikes but exceptionally fast at slashing.
Phobos - a thin, short katana used for foes that require a stronger, though no less refined, approach. It is a cursed blade that feeds off of the fear of its targets.
Unnamed stash of weapons - Echidna has acquired many weapons in her travels, kept stashed in her secret lair, though they rarely see use.

Though he mourned the sudden death of the great mage several years later, Viser determined to use the knowledge his master had accumulated in order to rebuild the world. Though often preoccupied with his studies, he will occasionally take up requests at the Guild to acquire finances and ingredients for his research.
Personality: Viser is a focus and determined young man, always more focused on results and getting to the point than in wasting time with trivialities and niceties. However, he displays kindness to all those he knows and is always eager to speak of plans and dreams for a better world.
Occupation: Alchemist; part-time mercenary

Skills
Magic: Alchemy - the ability to put magic to use in the creation of powerful items and machinery. Ether - the ability to manipulate magic in its most raw, unrefined state, a key aspect for mastering alchemy
Abilities:
Equipment: Conduit - a short sword more akin to a wand that absorbs, channels, and dissipates magical energy.

viser is good, he's interesting and should prove good to handle given some of the early missions i plan to give to get people together slowly.

echidna on the other hand, i like her, but i need to know this "not much is known about/rumors", dont get me wrong, i know i used the "not much is known" trope in the character revealed so far, but that's cause their history actualy have impact in the plot i'm making. you don't need to post if you want to keep it secret as some character development but you could pm it so that i know what i'm dealing with.

that said i like that she'll be a pain in the ass to have cooperate with others but at the same time there's some bride going on there "Do this mission with them." "I work alone" "There's this epic weapon there."

Well, I was planning to PM you my plans for both. :0 But yes, the hunger for more weapons makes a normally lone wolf possibly able to work with others for her own agendas.

No, I don't think so. I get the idea that the stats are there just to give you a concrete idea of your limits. Rather than using words to describe (smart, weak, impressionable), it uses numbers.

Free of the Sun: A curse carried by those who did not join the Immortal Emperor's banner. Those of these blood cannot by under anyone's control no matter how much charisma that person may have, their stubbornness for freedom makes them incapable of following orders. At the same time, they are incapable of ordering others, they lack a clear characteristic in speech and will sound mostly as social incompetents. Speech stat cannot have points.


It's an ability one of Jorg's chars has, so yeah you can do something similiar.

Yeah but that doesn't let you have speech '0' to make you use that point. (So I was thinking about a character who uses sketch book or something to convey his thought. Meaning a character who cannot speak at all)

If you make a character Jorg likes, he gives exceptions. :0 So he might let you allocate that point somewhere else.
